Return to Castle Wolfenstein for $29.99
I dont know how many people know this or not but this week at circuit city, Return To Castle Wolfenstein is $29.99 in their ad paper. Just thought I would let people know. I have the game but im "borrowing" it from someone who is out of town right now so I'm gonna go get my own personal one tomorrow. I heard also that Best Buy is doing a similar deal, but I dont have their ad so I dont know. Best Buy has it for $50 on their site and CC doesnt even have it on their site. All of CC's pc and console games are 10% off this week. I wonder why RTCW is $20 off?

Typo? Go to the store and try and get it for the $29.99, if they b!tch you show them the ad and they'll be forced to sell it for that price.

It isn't a missprint. I went to Circuit City yesterday to get a copy, but they were already sold out.

Well I went to bestbuy and they honored the ad. I had only played the multiplayer demo, but I had been playing the full version Single player. I had borrowed it from a friend but had to give it back when his vacation was over. I cant wait to get my new vid card to put that thing to the extreme.
Is the rumor about an expansion pack for RTCW just a rumor or is there truth to it?

What is RTCW like? I might go pick it up if it sounds good. Does it cost money to play online?

It's the sequal to the first major FPS of all time.
Based on the Single player demo, reminds me of the original Quake, with a few added puzzles, few. So, basicaly kill anything that moves. Oh, it's really cool being able to listen to the nazi's talk in game.
Multi-player seems to be very fast paced and fairly difficult.
Graphically, it's quite good. Brought my old Matrox G400 Max to it's knees . My new GF3 is running it quite nicely at 1024x768x32 w/ 2X AA.
For those of you that don't know, a G400 Max is roughly equivalent to a TNT2.
I'll probably by it when I can get it for $30 for sure.

RTCW is an excellent game. The single player is actually quite good. Of course the best part is the multiplayer. Multiplayer is free too. And its not easy either. The multi player takes some skill and tactics on the whole teams part. Sometimes though you get some goon's on your team that just screw around. Theres a dumb cheat that works online too that is just plain retarted. I wish activision would patch it. Other than that, I havent seen anyone using noticable hacks or anything. You dont need the CD to run it either.

I just bought it yesterday. Graphics are amazing. It isn't anything original, but I must say, the 3D Nazis crumpled on the floor look fantastic.

single player RtCW is one of the best FPS games I've played so far. I can't play it online now but from what I've seen, multiplayer looked pretty good too.

I have seen some screen shots of it, and it does look really good. I might go get it after Christmas(when I hopefully get my new vid car ). I don't think my TNT2 16mb would handle RTCW that good.
Do you need broadband to play the multiplayer? Is there any lag on Multiplayer?

Since you have a 16mb card, I would keep the graphics at 800x600x16 for multiplayer. My TNT2 32mb card does fairly well so I run it at 1024x768x16 with dynamic lights and vertex lighting(or whatever the high quality lighting is. You can sorta cheat online if you turn off the high quality lights becuase it brightens all the textures making it easy to see people, but it looks so much better with all the effects on. I have the "Low quality sky" option turned on, because you dont need the sky on multi for anything.
As for lag, I havent played with dial-up but my ping with DSL has been 39 to 250. It really depends on the server. I dont use gamespy to play, I just use the server list that you access through the game. Adjusting your net settings can make your connection a bit better(although I was told it cant lower ping). I noticed a change when I adjusted my packets and rate as far as smoothness. The defaults are set up for dial-up even if you tell it you have DSL. But anyways, I would immagine my ping would be 3 or 4x what it is now if I had dial-up. Thats how most of my games were when I had dial-up(Dialblo 2, starcraft/bw, etc).
But I really like the single player so I play it almost as much as multi. Single player is actually challenging.

RTCW seems like a weak attempt at a FPS after playing Halo.
Hate to say it, but Halo raised the bar for FPS games, and RTCW falls way short.
