trouble running rome tw exe. file

i am having trouble installing and playing rome total war on this computer. i am able to play every other game known to man on it but this one just won't. when i'm installing the game (yes it is a genuine game that i payed money for) i get the error 1609 message that window cannot access the exe.file for the game and it gives the choices of either abort, retry, and ignor. i've tried all three and when i select ignor it continues to install without a problem. then when i try to play the game, it will do nothing. I went into the disk itself and into the program file and when i try to select it, i will get this message. "Error- Windows cannot access the specified device path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item". I have played this game on another computer and it downloads fine. The only difference i can see is on the computer it does work on it has the actuall game icon to click on and the computer that it won't work on has just the exe file card looking icon. I hope someone here can help me with this problem. I am running win xp and have all the game specifications.

Re: trouble running rome tw exe. file

If the exe. file is damaged? I suggest you go to Game copy world. And download a no cd / no dvd exe. for your game.

Then use ISO Magic for ex. to extracting the game from the cd / dvd to a custom made folder. Copy paste the no cd / no dvd exe. into that folder and click the installer.

I had the same problem with Jedi Academy once, and this trick worked.
