Did you like the recent Lord of the Rings movie?

The time has come ... but this time we'll take a break from tech polls and do something unrelated (somewhat).

The first episode of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, titled Fellowship of the Ring, was finally unveiled this week. I am pretty sure that almost everyone will watch it (or have watched it already).

So this poll asks the obvious question - did you like the movie? Let us know what you liked (or did not like) about it - but be careful not to divulge any major spoilers (even though there are people who have read the books already).

Oh come on, you don't know what you could be missing! Even if you normally don't like Fantasy style movies, sometimes a movie out of what you normally like can be cool.

I watched a movie on Lifetime the other day and it was decent. I didn't think I could ever like anything on the bored housewife network..hehe

I usually don't like comedies either but Rush Hour 2 rocks!

Anyways I think you would like it. It looks nothing like the dull cartoon version they had out years ago.

The poll applies only to those who have watched it (or don't want to watch it) ... hence the question

It was okay. I never read the books. The movie looked good, and I liked some of the visuals, but the overall filmography was weak IMO. Didn't like the fact that they put most of the movie through color filters. I hate that.

And also, why do all bad guys have to be slimy? WTF? That's the tiredest, oldest, badest film stereotype ever.

The balrog was uber cool, as were the ring wraiths. I also liked most of the characters that played a part in the fellowship.

As someone who never read the books, I'm coming from the perspective of someone seeing this story for the first time, but it was pretty weak overall. The visuals and the pacing were about the only thing that stopped the movie from sucking. I mean, the plot was about as transparent as you can get, and there were no surprises to be had at all.

Weak story, cool movie.

Weak Plot? Weak Plot? Tolkien's was the original plot from which all are derived. Slimy? You ain't seen slimy till you read the books. Put me on the Gonna See it Soonest list. Weak Plot? *stifles a Balrog's Flame Spell.

What, you think that before tolkien wrote LOTR 50 years ago people didn't know what plot was?

He didn't magically invent plot you know. And by any plot standards, LOTR is weak.

Fellowship of the Ring, you mean

Yeah, it is very possible that FOTR is weak by your plot standards

I guess I just like intelligent plots, and can't stand linear plots with zero twists or surprises.
