Re: To Back up or not to back up that is the Q

Good subject.

Dependig what to backup, I will use Ghost 9 to make an image of the 'required backup', but any backup utility program will do very important job.
Not to do any backup is like suiside.

Re: To Back up or not to back up that is the Q

anything not readily replaceable should be backed up. backing up programs is not necessary, those can be reinstalled, but data should be. for most people, that mainly consists of pictures and anything creative they do on the computer.

Re: To Back up or not to back up that is the Q

indeed, my my documents folder with my pics and documetns on I back up on 2 seperate drives. Simply do a copy and paste of them. Then of course all the programs I have ( instal files) I also back up on a seperate drive (100gig) which I have just for backing stuff up on. If you have total copy when you do a total copy of a folder, it will check to see which parts of that which you are copying over has changed and will only copy over changed files ( or at least that is what it seems to do )

O ye btw, total copy is only a pretty looking control interface for the normal windows copy function.

A few screenies and the dl should be there

Re: To Back up or not to back up that is the Q

My feeling is that you should back up all of your personal data that is held on the system. As long as you have the install disks for all of your programs, if you do experience a system fatal crach ie your hard drive dies etc, then all of your personal data is protected. Obviously only the data that you save can be restored.

If you don't have all the program install disks, I would suggest that you make a backup of all your hard disk data. Perhaps using Goast 9 like Antti2004 suggested.
