compaq presario r3070 us

hi there

i just purchased a used compaq presario r3070 us, 3,06 ghz,512 ram,80 GB,64 graphic card.
well when i just got it,i formated it,install winxp and everyhting seems to work fine, until one day i tried to verify if all the devices were well installed, then i found " 1394 net adapter " not installed ,and need driver, i tried everything , all the drivers , updates.... nothing is working, at the same time i discovered that the laptop freezes sometimes after a random time of use,everything freese, i have then to reboot and it works then fine without scan disc,also i discovered that when go to : www.microsoft.com the laptop freezes seems funny but it's the truth , also when i insatlled nba 2005 , need for speed underground 2 ,just after a minute the laptop freezes completly ,i installed the latest graphiccard driver and direct x, well everything even all the windows updates and SP2.
i tried to find where to download the compaq presario drivers,utilities cd,but i didnt found it.
please if you can help me i'm really mad and dont know what causes the laptop to freeze.

Visit the HP to download the motherboard drivers and any enhancehement software. Windows is not the answer in hardware problems.

thanks for the advise ,i did downloaded all the drivers ( i didnt found the motherboard driver) but i installed all the other drivers , but sadly it freezes again , i dont know why ,it's always the same problem.

after a clean formating,updating with the new drivers.... 2 things are still wrong:

1394 net adapter is still not installed
the laptop freezes when i start a game (need 4 speed underground 2) just after 2-3 minutes after i start it.

Well I think we need more information.

So, in order to do that I am wondering if you could post the exact text you are getting when your laptop crashes. If the message flashes by too fast to read, then your laptop is set to reboot when an error occurs. You can disable this by opening your Control Panel, then opening the "System" icon, then selecting the tab titled "Startup and Recovery". UN-check the box where it says "Automatically Restart". Save and exit. The next time the crash occurs, please post as many details as you can.
