Great music player!

I'm have'nt been that fond of the WMP or any other media player when when it comes to good audio quality playback.

But today I stumbled over a audio media player that most a computer audiophiles around the net seems to like very much. It's called "Foobar 2000"

So beeing an audiophile, I decided to give it a try and downloaded it. And I must agree to that it sounds very good indeed! Especially if you use it together with the SRS Audio Sandbox, audio enhancer, wich I have been using for a year now.

I did compared several high quality cd recordings and MP 3's, listening to them in both WMP 11 and the latest Winamp. And compairing how it sounded compaired to Foobar. The Foobar player is a clear winner I can say.

The only downsides with it is that it's a bit of a pain to set up properly. But the fuzz are really worth it. And also the fact that it's really dull looking! But as sound quality is the main priority over looks....well.

So, if you feel the need of a really good audio media player? Try Foobar 2k out!

I include a guide here too:

Re: Great music player!

Btw, I found some nice skins for the Foobar player, that will make it a lot nicer.

http://customize.org/foobar/skins/59780

EDIT. Download the kernel plugin from this site:

http://www.foobar2000.org/?page=Download

Exstract the kernel plugin into the Foobar folder - "components" folder.

Open Foobar, and go "File" - "preferences" and "output".

Choose the "KS" option that suites / sounds best.

Finished.

This kernel plugin makes a noticeable difference to the playback quality.

Re: Great music player!

Yeah, Foobar 2k are great. Actually, after installing the kernel plugin and some fine adjustments I can't hear any difference from using this player and the full SRS Audio Sandbox or just the Foobar only.

Re: Great music player!

For XP users. You need to install Microsoft Power Point viewer 2007 to get the needed fonts for custom skin installations I found out today.

But you dont have to have MS Office installed though.

Vista owners allready have these fonts.
