windows 2003 wont boot ?

I got a computer from work and I was told it didnt work ? It has windows server 2003 and its a HP Poweredge SC 420. When I turned it on it started to scandisk and after about 15 min it went to the dell logo screen and now it stays there. It wont allow me to boot in safe mode so any ideas on what to do next would be appreciated. Thanks..

The only things that comes to mind is that either the harddrive are bad, or you need to reinstall Windows.

Re: windows 2003 wont boot ?

Are you able to boot the computer with a Windows 2003 install disc?

Also, if you suspect that the harddrive is damaged you can always run SpinRite on it.

-----------------------------
Debian Lenny (Linux kernel 2.6.26)
Chieftec fulltower
QDI PlatiniX, P4 @ 2.8
CPU cooler: Arctic Cooling 92mm
2x512MB 400mhz DDR Kingston
320GB 7200RPM S-ATA WD
500GB 7200RPM S-ATA WD
80GB 7200RPM EIDE WD
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy ZS2
Gainward Bliss 7800GS 256MB GDDR3
650w CorsairTX

Re: windows 2003 wont boot ?

Click on the link.

SpinRite checks your harddrive for errors and then when it finds bad sectors it marks them as unavailable and also makes these sectors of the harddrive unavailable which makes the harddrive use'able once again, from what I have understood it.

You can also check out this part of their homepage.
