Need a powerful reg cleaner, which one?

Hi!

I'm in a need for a powerful reg cleaner program. TweakNow RegCleaner seems like a powerful solution for this, but I don't know.

I really, really need a good recommendation on the best program for this to use. It must work for Windows XP. What do you say?

I'm thinking on buying the reg cleaner from Enigma Software just so I get something which is powerful and does the job correctly. The UniBlue Registry Booster program which I tried the last time seems to have messed up the Windows registry so that I was unable to play a game called Spellfroce which is on the harddrive and uninstalling the game and installing it again don't work. I just don't understand... I didn't do a backup, but I'm optimistic about this. I just don't know what program to use.

If your considering buying then try the stand alone version of "Reg Supreme" (also part of jv16 power tools)

Re: Need a powerful reg cleaner, which one?

I think Registry Mechanic, is the best one. And very easy / safe to use.

http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/

But it's pay for though. You can download a trial. But it will only allow a few repairs per scan.

I have used R.M for a couple of years now. And I have tried a couple of other such reg cleaning / repair programs. But I have always come back to Registry Mechanic.

Want a free one?

Try CC cleaner. It's both a junk file remover and registry fix program.

Re: Need a powerful reg cleaner, which one?

I actually have used CCleaner before. I didn't notice any major difference afterwards, though.

I have read about Registry Mechanic and it seems good, yes. However, I will wait on my own decision when it comes to buying it. The main reason to why I need a good registry cleaner is because UniBlue Reigstry Booster have destroyed some registry keys for one of my programs (or more) + one of my heavier games: Spellforce The order of dawn, and I have been hoping that if I fix the registry I would be able to play Spellforce again, then again... Windows is Windows, which means that a reinstallation of Windows might be the only cure in this case and I don't want to reinstall Windows on the same harddisk since the system is actually working okay and I don't want to erase it (I'm using it to watch movies when I'm sitting on the Linux system and actually are doing stuff, ha ha.

If it's better than UniBlue Registry Booster than I wouldn't be surprised if I decide on to actually buy the product, but I'm not in a hurry since I don't think it will solve my problems. Hmm...

Re: Need a powerful reg cleaner, which one?

But download and run the trial of R.M then?

But you probably have a lot of scanning / repair to do the first time at least.

Yes, I will try that. It will give a good indication on how things looks like. The Windows system has been running for more than 2 1/2 years now and it still working. Is it a miracle?

Re: Need a powerful reg cleaner, which one?

Lol. Yeah a pretty big miracle I would say.

XP, is inofficial world champion at messing up the registry. I run R.M a couple of times a week. And I can still have anything from 2 errors to 40 or more.

Btw, if you buy R.M? Set it to automatically create a system restore point after a scan. This could come very handy one day.

But make sure to clean out all but the latest restore point after a while. Or you soon will have filled your hdd with restore points.

Thumbs up Re: Need a powerful reg cleaner, which one?

I bought a license for Registry Mechanic today. At first I was a bit sceptical to actually pay for something like this, but I wanted to give this old Windows system a chance.

It found 932 faults with my Windows registry which it fixed. Unfortunately my Spellforce game is still unplayable after this so a complete reinstall of Windows is necessary in order to play the game. *sigh* (I will do that some other time)

I'm glad however that the Windows system works a bit quicker now and that when I'm using different web services I should be able to feel pretty sure that any faults which I would get somewhere won't have anything to do with a faulty Windows registry, hopefully.

Thumbs down for the UniBlue Registry Booster which destroyed my Spellforce game and thumbs up for this Registry Mechanic software which actually gave the whole system a boost without any problems. Great! (the price tag could be a less cheap, though)

Re: Need a powerful reg cleaner, which one?

Good you got R.M. I'm sure you will be satisfied with it. But sad your Spellforce game does'nt work. So it does'nt even help to just try to reinstall the game?

Yeah, the prize tag is a bit high. But the old saying "You get what you pay for" is still valid when you buy stuff most of the time.
