iTunes Having Issues with MP3s

So I'm running iTunes for x64 and I'm experiencing problems with adding songs to the library and editing some that have already been added.

I first noticed it when suddenly some album artwork went missing for "Back in Black" by ACDC. So I check in foobar2000 and noticed it had no problem reading the album art or the tags. So basically everything except iTunes has no problems with my MP3s.

I removed "Back in Black" from iTunes and moved it to another folder (copied it really) to try and add it again and now it won't go back into the library. Any suggestions what to try?

Otherwise I don't mind switching to completely using another program for my music, but I need something that supports my iPod Classic. I like the tagging capability of iTunes and how quickly I can search through the library. So far foobar 2000 supports all that well, except I don't like it's searching methods and I don't know for sure if it supports the iPod Classic.

Re: iTunes Having Issues with MP3s

I suggest that you try experimenting with older versions of iTunes to see if it solves your problem.

Look here for older versions.

Re: iTunes Having Issues with MP3s

Older versions don't seem to help. It's odd. It seems to be spreading through my library. Primarily affecting my AC/DC tracks, haha.

Re: iTunes Having Issues with MP3s

I doubt it. Foobar2000, Winamp, Windows Media Player, and VLC have no problems with the files. It appears to be only iTunes. It also appears that iTunes won't play the files either. I've tried converting them (not to another format, but basically using dbPowerAmp to encode a new copy). I've added the "new" files and am seeing what happens. This is just strange.

Re: iTunes Having Issues with MP3s

Have this problem with iTunes been an issue from the start or is it something which have emerged over time?

Re: iTunes Having Issues with MP3s

It just popped up within the past month. It started when I began actually organizing, in detail, my music library. I started caring about album art and genres and such. Then a little bit after I started filling in tags I noticed that album art began to disappear. First it was ACDC, and seems to be a focus on ACDC. Also been a couple others. The odd thing is, it's complete albums. It will start with one song, then eventually take out the whole album.

Re: iTunes Having Issues with MP3s

Maybe iTunes isn't ready for 64 bit, yet?

Re: iTunes Having Issues with MP3s

Probably the case. But I dunno how they could have messed up just reading the tags. The tags on the MP3s (as far as I am aware) are not specific to 32-bit nor 64-bit. But then again, I'm not exactly a programmer either. Haha.
