Display problems

Hi All, another glitch I have encountered.
If I leave the machine on for any length of time, say an hour or so, the screen dumps everything, closes programs and reverts to an 800 x 600 display. [normal display is set at 1280 x 1024]
Cannot get out of it except by re booting. Even closes internet connecton, looses all icons. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Re: Display problems

Try uninstalling the present video card driver. Then get this driver cleaner and compatible driver for the old GF FX5200 card:

Then, after the uninstallation. Run Driver sweeper in safe mode. Just tick the box "NV display" and nothing else. After the cleaning. Reboot back to normal mode and install the new driver.

Shut down the Windows installer that will pop up when back at the desk. Install directly from the driver installer instead.

Re: Display problems

Also, if the above from Göran doesn't help. You could always try to downclock the GPU to see if it will run more stable and hopefully not crash your display as it currently does.

Disabling the screensaver and just turn off the monitor whenever it's not being used could also be a method in solving this if it's the fault of the screensaver.
