programs running in background

I'd like to eliminate any unnecessary programs running int he background. Can anyone provide a list of the needed programs that should begin on "start up" and those that can go?

Thanks,

Re: programs running in background

Hello...

Can you post all the programs that are running in the backround, so I can tell you what to close..

Also Ccleaner is a great software to disable programs on the backround and when you boot up..
