(For anyone who is reading this thread for the first time, it was originally in the Warcraft III forum).
Hi there. I dropped by OTS to change my e-mail address, and I happened to see this thread. I think I should respond appropriately.
If you've ever poked around the archives of the Warcraft III forum (and other forums here), you might have seen me around. For about eight months straight, I posted here almost every day, literally almost all day. I really don't like to toot my own horn, but I'm one of the "experts" when it comes to Warcraft III problems, especially hosting. I do NOT get paid to post here, but for a time, it was essentially a "job".
I don't post as often as I used to because I need to keep up my grades and my social life, but when I did post a lot, I posted for people like yourself, folks who really need help with Warcraft III and can't get it anywhere else. Your observation that questions often go unanswered in the Warcraft III forum is spot on; one reason I posted was to fill that void. And believe me, I answered a LOT of questions.
You should also believe me that I understand your frustration. I've posted to some tech forums before where no one answered, and it pissed me off. But I absolutely must reiterate what the others have said:
people do not get paid to post here, they are volunteers. If no one responds to your thread(s), it's not the volunteers' problem.
I guess the real reason I'm responding is because I wanted to let you know that there IS a Warcraft III "expert" here who used to post every day (me). But you also need to know that I'm not bound here for eternity, and you need to give others who don't post every day a chance to respond. If they don't, then try these other forums:
http://www.thehelper.net/forums/foru...?s=&forumid=23
http://www.battle.net/forums/board.a...me=opensupport (official Blizzard forum)
And just in case I might be giving the wrong impression to some people, there ARE other really good helpers here. Most of them just don't post as often as I did.
I hope my post helps you understand what OTS and other volunteer tech forums are really about.
