I dont think the Email activation works....(for the site)

ok my friend was trying to join the site and it been forever and he never received a activation email.
So i try to make a new account, just to see if it was broke and it didn't receive an email either.
So if it is broke, that night be the reason we haven't seen anyone new around.

Re: I dont think the Email activation works....(for the site)

The email issue is the least of my problems, believe me

The site isn't even allowing me to upgrade the forum software! I can fix it by doing a clean install, but that might wipe out the old entries (yeah, that might be irrelevant to longtime visitors, but not surprisingly, those old posts are what gives me the google ad hits, lol...)

Might be moving to a Joomla frontend, but still gonna keep the vBulletin as forum software... as for the gallery and other doodads, I'll be wiping em off the site - mor at least replacing them with open source solutions...

Anyway, I'm still trying to fix stuff... so as much as it sounds cliché-esque, stay tuned

(and to those in the know, I won't pull a Wargy, haha)

Re: I dont think the Email activation works....(for the site)

I did a temporary workaround on the email issue, so new registrants should be able to post immediately. Downside is that without the email confirmation, it might open the forum to spammers, but I'll deal with it for now.

Still trying to fix the problem with the server not being able to send outgoing emails, so those who have private messages or those who subscribed to topics probably won't be receiving email notifications. Ah well, one problem at a time

Okay, email issue fixed

Tell your friend(s) they can authenticate their registration now if they try to visit their profile. I'm currently trying to find out how I can re-send the authentication email to other users who encountered this problem.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

Re: I dont think the Email activation works....(for the site)

I couldn't post for the longest time +a year because it wouldn't send me an email verification after I changed email addresses. was surprised when I noticed the OTS email verification message in my inbox.
