AVI Files wont play. Help?

I have downloaded the same movie a few times now (From Kazaa {Different users tried}) , and I can't seem to play them . My computer sometimes will and sometimes won't play a movie, but unfortunately I haven't figured out what specifically is causing it. I have to fully download these movies and then play them to see if they work, and it's about a 50/50 shot. They are avi files and I can play them in WMP and QT (Usually Win. Media Player though). Any suggestions or info?

Have you downloaded the mpeg4 codec at http://codeczone.virtualave.net/fixes.htm
also download the lastest divx version at
http://divx.com
be sure to have the lastest version of windows media player:
http://windowsmedia.com
