I just got a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 and finally, FINALLY NwN, Warcraft, and pretty much everygame out these days looks really damn nice! I jacked up all the settings on NwN and exclaimed "omfg. These graphics are holy shit sexy!"

You got a nice card
What are your specs of the rest of your comp?
Posted by: Ghetto Blasta
Win2k
630MB of RAM (128 of PC600, 512 of PC800)
p4 1.4g
Geforce 4 Ti 4200
Much improved from a humble winME, 128 RAM, p4 1.4g, and a TNT2

Wow someone else with a TNT2! Heh better than this machine K6-2 400, 128 SD-RAM (Now 256), Diamond Viper V550 (Temporarily TNT2), Win 98 (XP Pro now). Getting a P4 pretty soon. I'm liking what I see with the long pipeline design and the excellent over-clocking and low operating temperatures .

Very nice machine you have Ghetto.
I just got rid of my TNT for my GF3.

Whats a TNT like? Never seen it before

hah
my old computer had a voodoo3 3000 or something
old old old and slowww
Posted by: ZeRo_MaXwInG
Around 3-4 years back, Voodoo3 was like, the rage in computer gaming. Those were the days. My friend spent around 300-400 on a new Vooodoo 3 card!

I have a MX420, should have got the Ti series. Building a new computer though. I don't want to use the MX for it, especially since seeing Doom 3. I'll probably shell out the money for a ATI 9700.
Here are the specs of my new computer.
AMD 2100+
1 Gig Ram DDR 2100
Geforce 4 MX420 64 megs SDRam(hope to change this)
100 Gig 7200 RPM Western Digital hard drive
52x CD-Rom
CD-R
400 Watt Power Supply
Mid-Tower
I want to still a DVD burner & player, a tv-tuner card, 9700, maybe a couple fans so I can over-clock. Do you think this computer could play Doom 3?
Posted by: taco_fox
With a better video card, it will play Doom 3 fine.

how much is the GeForce 4 Ti 4200 ?
Posted by: Tecil
They are averaging about $140 now online.
Try www.newegg.com

nice card.. anywya i have a p3 with 128 ram with a 32mb PCI geforce vidcard, it sucks with wc3 lol, Im gonna get a new computer, cna anyoen suggest me a cheap, but total awsome computer for a gaming experince, like a total gaming computer? all suggestions needed!
Posted by: redwench
well, cheap and gaming dont really go well together. the closest youre going to get is one you build yourself. if youre up to the task, start with the case and power supply. several manufacturers make good models, antec and addtronics both come to mind. there are others that are good also.
while youre doing that, research mobo and cpu. you really should do this yourself, since it changes very quickly, and most recommendations we could make are out of date. read the reviews, check whats in your price range. when you have a tentative selection, come back

Not to make this a "build my computer thread" but if you want you may be able to just upgrade your comp.
If you can try and keep the same motherboard, maybe get a P3 1ghz and a GF3 Ti200 and another 256mb of Ram. That should be fine for games.

I'm using a GeForce3 Ti500. Runs Warcraft 3 without problems. Nice card for the price i paid for it.

I had a S3 Graphics ProSavage and NWN was terrible then I got a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX420 and everything works great.

Hey, I just got the same card, but I'm having some probs with it.
It will suddenly reboot, or freeze up my computer. I've downloaded the most recent drivers from nvidia already. Anyone else have this problem?
Posted by: Freak
Take off the case cover. It's probably an over heating problem, or an IRQ problem.
Posted by: Nightshadex99
That's what I did...and the IRQ seems to be fine. My vid card is on 11 and sound is on 9.
When it freezes, it repeats the same sound over and over. I also updated my sound card drivers too. (SB live)
Posted by: Nightshadex99
Incidently, I considered an overheating prob...so I took off the case side, and while my case fan doesn't work, it still screws up.
By the way, my geforce is manufactured by Forsa. I can't find their website to see if they have any drivers. My current drivers are from nvidia.
Posted by: Bobaroo
Your case fan does not work? That could be a problem.
Posted by: Nightshadex99
Hey all, I just did a quick upgrade.
I fixed the fan, got a new hdd and put winxp on it.
However, I got this error when War3 closed on me:
Fatal error!
Program c://....war3.exe
Exception 0xc0000005 (access_violation) at 001b:15020910
The instruction at '0x15020910' referenced memory at '0x02fb136b'.
The memory could not be read.
Press OK to terminate this program.
Can anyone help me?

That sounds like a memory error. check out your rasm timings and slow them down if they are set to SUPER SPEED. hehe

630MB of RAM (128 of PC600, 512 of PC800)
Can you mix speeds on Ramus memory without both of them running at the slower speed. Thats what happens with SDram and DDR.
I would suggest you remove the 128 stick and see if you get a performance boost.
Posted by: The-AoD
Whoa, I musta missed that. I know that "can" cause bunches of problems. Specially if thier setup for both the higher speed. My cousin bought ram like that, she had 256m of pc600 and she bought 256 of pc800. Her husband set it up to run at PC800 specs, and of course, she got one HELLA ALOT-O stability issues. She had him turn them down to PC600, and it was all fine and dandy. I say do what tkron said, try setting it up with only the 512mb of PC800 and see if that helps the issue.
Posted by: Nightshadex99
I only have 288 Megs.
1x 32M
2x 128M
Is there a way I can tell what kind of RAM I have? Cuz I don't remember which one is which.
Posted by: Nightshadex99
Sorry, I know WHICH one is 128 and which one is 32, but I don't know how much the 32 one is. My 128 is PC100.
