"But when they looked more closely they found that, despite producing an oscillating signal, the circuit itself was not actually an oscillator. Instead, it was behaving more like a radio receiver, picking up a signal from a nearby computer and delivering it as an output.
In essence, the evolving circuit had cheated, relaying oscillations generated elsewhere, rather than generating its own."

doesnt this like put up a red light to these idiots?? u ask for X u get instead Y. am i the only one concerned about creating a real monkey's paw?? what happens when these smart folks with not a shred of common sense asks the first self aware computer for world peace and the computer then generates launch codes and orders for all the nukes in the world wiping out everyone and leaving the world at peace???? either that or the these morons asl fr a cure to aids and instead it develops a super virus that wipes everyone that is predisposed to aids and those that have the disease out.... im far froma ludite by any stretch but i am more than a bit concerned that these lunatics are in essence playing around in science lab without a clue as to what they are doing.
