Thats a pretty bold statement there. Have any viable resources to back that claim up? Try logging in and seeing the ammount of War3 games compared to SC and D2.

i know and have heard of a lot of ppl playing d2 say that war3 is not as good as diablo2 therefore the strop playing war3 and playd2, its not good proof but i think it will suffice

Well D2 and War3 are two completely different genres. So to say one is better than the other is kind of moot. It's like saying Halo on the Xbox is better than FF7 on PSX.

I didn't say it was better than D2. I've played my fair share of D2 and enjoyed it when I did play it.
I'm just starting to play War3 now and so far I've enjoyed playing it to. I can't say it's better than D2, because thats like comparing peas to carrots. In terms of what games I would included on a must have list War3 would be on that list, but D2 wouldn't.
In terms of RTS types games, its one of the best there is. And as for RPGs there are games out there that I've found to be 10 times the game D2 is.
As for your stats I'd be inclined to go by what my own eyes see what I play on b.net, not what I read somewhere on the internet.

for half a million people to say one is better than the other, half a million (at the least) people would have had to have bought and played both. wc3 is certainly popular, but i dont think its had half a million in sales yet.

Ahh ok, there was also this article about there being 4.5 million pre-orders but I wouldn't count that until it has actually been bought and paid for.

well anyways i still here many ppl in channels say that they like d2 better then war3. There are a few that say war3 is better, but as a whole are ppl say d2 is better then war3 then ppl saying war3 is better then d2. Ne ways it really doesnt matter i havent played either one. The statisctics arent that good either, most ppl say that war3 gets old faster, i dont know if that is possible cuz d2 got old as soon as you got through normal...plus that press conferance doesnt mean that much cuz every company says that stuff about their new games.

Are Laggy and wench planning the food for the next gathering?
Anyhoo, I have been trying off and on for 3 days to set up in Astonia per Simetra's urging (Hi Simetra!! *wavewavewave*) and for whatever reason, after I do everything they tell me (ie signing in, passing words, secret handshakes, downloading download clients, jumping through hoops etc. ad nauseum), it still won't tell me how to actually get into a game. If I wasn't such an introvert and reclusive hermit-type person, I might send them a note in their support email and just ASK them WTH I'm supposed to do anyhow? I like the fact they automatically ban your IP until you jump through special hoops just to make a character. I have been wandering all over their website and even with their Super Duper Special Download Program all ready, there is still no SIGN that says ENTER HERE!!!!
Anyone else trying this game?
Oh yeah, I still play both D1 and D2. I am SC/BW/W3 dyslexic, so you know where that leaves me heh

I can't believe that this debate has dragged out for 3 pages. Ok, listen up: there is no such thing as the 'ultimate'. The word 'ultimate' is useless to an objective individual. There is only the best matched candidate for a given set of circumstances. This is the power of diversity. The constraints of this situation are merely player preference. So it is just an issue of what you like. If what you like at this moment is pointlessly debating an issue that has no resolution, please continue. 
Simenstra, as far as the initial topic is concerned, D1 and D2 are not out of the way. Log on the Battle.Net using either client and the stats will show you that both have healthy followings. Also, if you hang out in the OTS channel, after the 5th person asks when the 1.10 patch for D2 is coming out, you'll wish you were right.

You can only compare games within a genre. EOD. Cross the genre line, and any arguments of 'X is better than Y' are completely moot. And stupid. And stupid. And stupid.

Turks, buddy, your wrong.
There are as many people who say d2 is stupid, as who say war3 is stupid. If your trying to win this by seeing how many people are logged on, SC is the most sucessfull blizzard game by that standereds. Go log on with all different games and see.
Sc + Bw has far more users on it then d2, war3, d1.
And lastly, ive played alot of RTS, to much rts. If i was at work all the hours i put into rts playing i would be retired by now. And war3 is best RTS i have ever played. It is far from getting old, its only getting better.
