Anyone play it yet? Looks like a GTA clone but set in the 1930s. My roomate just picked it up and we're enjoying the intro.

Graphics are very nice. The game took up a whopping 1.8 gigs on the hd. Gotta be something worth wile if it takes up that much room

Well, back to the game- anyone else have it or lookin to buy it?

Give me money, and I'll buy it.

Looked interesting, I'll probably pick it up sometime soon.

what ive heard about people talk about on the 3Drealms forums, and seen the Screen shots, it kicks ass, the foot prints with the blood on them are detailed, and the story is incredably good, most of them have already beat it, and says its worth every penny

It's not my kinda game, I don't like it at all.

I've got the game, but to be honest with you one of my mates has played it more than I have

I personally find it quite a hard game to play.

I got it because I was promised a GTA3 style game, this is not the case, it's far more involved than that, infact I'd go as far as to say the only thing about Mafia that's anything like GTA 3 is that you get to drive a car and you get to kill people.

I should have a review on SavePoint.co.uk soon, so keep your eyes open for it

After playing the game a bit (and watching alot), I've been impressed. Very cool story and solid gameplay.

This just in... its headed to Gamecube

Gamecube disks hold 1.5 gig of data. I suppose they are goign to cut stuff out of the game or compress alot.

Posted by: AK47

either that or its gonna be at least a 5 disc game

Yeah, when I saw the news of the game being ported, I really did not expect Gamecube to be the system of choice. Dont know how its gonna work... the game takes up almost 2 gigs to install it on a PC...

It will probably just use two discs like Resident Evil did.

I finished Mafia yesterday not because it was too much fun, but just out of pure frustration!

Mafia reminds me of Ultima IX:Ascension as far as control, visuals, and basic gameplay is concerned. It does indeed have a decent story, however more notable is the storytelling. You're basically confessing all to a cop in a restaurant, with the memories/flashbacks being the actual game itself.
Like GTA3, you can carjack, steal, kill and beat to your heart's content--or until you're taken down yourself. Unlike GTA3, you can only jack cars that you've been taught to steal as the game progresses, which does feel inhibiting from time to time.
The save feature is automatic, occuring once you've completed certain goals during a mission. It works just fine, considering the flow of the game.
All in all, It's worth it if you're into frustration and chest pains. **SPOILER** One cool thing about the game is that I finished it even though my character died at the end! I threw a grenade at the "boss level" enemy before he came charging around the corner with his WAY too accurate Thompson gun (4 shots, I was dead), and before the scene faded, he died, and the Free Ride Extreme was unlocked! Howdya like dem apples?!?
