Anyone have a Quad?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I figured, since I'm soon to be looking into getting myself one, I was wondering if anyone else lurking around here had a quad they rode.

The one I'm certainly looking at is the Honda Sportrax 250ex, it's not the biggest and baddest, but it sure as hell would be the most dependable. Along with shaft drive and a light wieght, paired with a 229cc motor and a semi-automatic cluth.. I think it'd be nice for me.

Well, just seeing if anyone else had one.. I'd like to hear some stories if you do.

I'm guessing a four-wheeler? I don't know anything about those.

Screw a quad get a nice rice rocket. And if you don't want that get a dual sport bike.

Here is a picture of my 2000 Yamaha Warrior, a 4 stroke 350, a good all around sport quad. We also have a 1992 Yamaha Banshee, a 2 stroke 350, which is modified mainly to ride in the sand.

To choose the correct quad for yourself, you need to first decide what you will mainly be using the quad for. A four wheel drive quad is best suited for utility and trail riding. A 2 wheel drive sport quad is better suited for trail and "sport" riding.

We mainly ride our quads in Nevada at a place called Sand Mountain.

I will caution you to not purchase a quad that you will outgrow too soon as your riding skills increase. We used to own a Yamaha Blaster, a 200 2 stroke, and found that is was lacking in performance for our type of riding, without doing expensive mods. We have ridden in the sand dunes with people who were riding 300ex's and they performed well. I have never ridden with a 250ex.

I did just look at the Honda website and the 250ex does look like a fun, dependable quad. A good all around family sport quad.

Good luck in your search for the right quad, and if you have any more questions, just post or e-mail me at uptuck@sunset.net.

well ive ridden a quad once. it was a honda recon (i think it was 2 stroke 250cc but im prolly not correct wasnt paying much attention when they told me). rode it up in nh on a snowmobile trail. ima pretty big guy and that thing still hauled. was up to 50mph at one point that i know of (my friend was on a snowmobile with a speedometer). heh my knowlege is limited, and most likely not of any help, but (as hw said) try and find one that will suit you and what you want to do with it

A dual sport bike is like the old Enduro. Used for both on-road and off-road riding. Gives you the maximum bang for the buck. Several of the bike makers make models for them. I'll look some up tonight after I get outta hell.

That looks sweet. My friend John has 2 of those 350's. They aren't super fast but I'll say one thing, they got some guts and a half. I used to ride the old 200sx, and the old 300sx 4x4 "fourtrax" models of the day. I know that little 200sx was a fun bike, but it had the ability to take a trail just as good as that 4x4, if you knew what you were doing.

As for the fact of "outgrowing", I'm not really that worried about that, I don't need a 400ex or something like that. I don't want something that is all guts, and too darn fast. Like those old 250R honda 2-strokes... God I rode one of them, and then my pance were riding me.... But on that point.. my friend here in Irondale has an old `85 ATC250sx... Three wheeler.. Shaft driven and it also has a semi-auto clutch. The only dang thing wrong with it is the valve adjustment needs done. The drive train is in perfect condition.

Along with this is an attached movie, it just shows a 250ex on a small sand jump. But it looks perfectola for me.

Tecil has, by far, a MUCH cooler/better/more kickass quad than any other listed!

Reminds me of that movie "Summer Catch" where the one guy says this...

"Fat women are like mopeds, fun to ride, just don't let your friends see you doing it." LOL

Posted by: TheeMon

its orginally from "The Pest" and quoted "fat women are like mopeds there fun till your friends catch you do'n it"
