Alienware computer

I have heard nothing but good things about Alienware. Just because they messed up once it does not mean that they suck.

And maybe your other friend just does not know how to care for a computer.

[edit]err, why am I on the top? I did not start the thread[/edit]

If anyone is planning on getting a new computer any time soon, DO NOT GET AN ALIENWARE! My friend just paid 3000 for some Alienware comp and when he recieved it,(2 weeks later than he was supposed to) it didnt even work. He sent for a repair guy. The repair said that the 2 chips of ram were corrupt and the motherboard was KFC. He sent for replacment ram and motherboard. 2 weeks later (worst shipping of all time) they arrived. He replaced the motherboard and the ram. Except when he tried to turn on his comp, it didnt boot. So he sent for the repair guy again. HE told him that again alienware screwed up. The ram was damaged. So he ordered some more ram. When it arrived, he put it in and tried to boot his comp. It wouldnt boot. He called the repaird guy and he said that the computer was booting, except that the monitor wasnt turning on because the geforce 4 card had been severly damaged. My friend got so pissed that he just returned the comp. I dont even see why he wanted an Alienware any way, another one of my friends has one, and it is slow as crap. It is sposed to be 2.0gig p4, but it seems like a P2 800mhz. Why do people buy Alienwares? They are slow, they are triple the price a computer should be, and most of the time they dont even work. Compaq even makes better computers than that. I wouldnt waste my money on a top of the line Alienware if it was 75% off. 2 thumbs down for Alienware

Well for one thing, this is the wrong section, this should be in rants and raves or consumer reports complaints(?).
Secondly, 1 bad experience doesnt make the company bad, almost any report ive seen on an alienware has shown they are very good.
Oh another thing I forgot to mention, a 2 gig processor wont necessarily make the computer any better, RAM, Video card, Motherboard, and settings can ALL effect the speed of a computer.

Moving to Consumer Reports and Complaints.

I joined just to post here to warn you that It’s not just once that Alienware messed up, They screwed me big time.
As no one will want to listen to the hole tale I’ll make it short.

They sent me a untested computer. (we have paper work that proves it )
It would not start right at all I had to keep using safe mode, so I called tech support. After doing some stuff he said there was a problem in the BIOS and we would have to send it back. Because we could not wait the few weeks they said it would take we called Custom disservice and just wanted to return it. To my horror they said I could but I would have to pay a 15% restocking fee. After going to supervisor to supervisor I got to Roger. He apologized and begged me to stay with Alienware and give them another chance. I explained that I did not want a refurbished untested computer, He said he could understand and promised he would send me a Brand NEW computer. He tolled me to take down the serial numbers if I wanted. So I agreed.

About 2 Weeks later I was sent the same computer, not a new one. And it will not even boot now. So I called back and said I wanted to return it and there was no way I was paying 15% I had already given them one chance and they had lied to me and not even repaired it.

We got sent all the way to Ronald, he said he could wave the fee but he wouldn’t, unless I went with them again. I was not about to be lied to again. So I am sending it back and loosening 15%. I warn you never do business with them. They make 15% even if they sell you a broken computer.
I had bought a $5000 computer and I’m now loosing over $600.
