New movie: The Ring
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The Ring is a new movie from Dreamworks studios. I still have no clue what this movie is really about so I'm going to encourage people to check out the website in the hopes that group catharsis will resolve this issue. Basically, for anyone who has had the opportunity to see the trailers on television its like this: even if the trailers could be treated with therapy and drugs, there still is no hope for the website.

Yeah, those commercials had me wondering. Just recently did they finally say that the commercials were for a movie. They used to just be the strange images and noises and that was it. I thought it could be an ad for the new Silent Hill game or somethin....they really had me guessing. I even contemplated posting about it

Looks like a decent mind****. Their webpage is nothing though.
The best movie webpage every is www.requiemforadream.com

I am unable to navigate that webpage let alone find any semblence of a plot. Sorry yo.

Spider, I don't think it's supposed to be navigable in the traditional sense. The more you click on, the more options appear on the main page for you to click on. The more you learn, the more branches there are to follow.
I was attempting to follow the "Child" branch all the way through, sort of charting it. It gets considerably more complex at step 30 (think "massive flow chart"), and part of it intersects with the "Mother" branch. I'd love to see a site map.
Things learned so far:
I believe the movie takes place in 1978.
There's a prominant horse ranch owned by Richard Morgan. One night, the horses go crazy and drown in a lake, possibly from eating toxic fungus. The ranch is quarantined.
Anna Morgan, Richard's wife, is in a mental institution. She is suicidal. She had several miscarriages in the 1960s. She has dreams of harming her daughter, Samara. She is released in 1978 to Richard's care, although she is still suicidal. Her obituary appears in the local paper -- she died or committed suicide at the age of 44.
There's an 8-year-old girl in a mental institution. Her name is Samara Morgan, born 1970, lives on Morgan Ranch. She is violent towards the staff and has had a failed psychosurgery, resulting in her never sleeping. She draws pictures of holes and ladders. In most pictures, there is a black-haired woman in a black dress sleeping or dead, sometimes under the water, sometimes under the ground, sometimes in the sun. According to a psych evaluation, her clinical prognosis is not good. Her psychosis may be a result of heavy metal poisoning.
I'll keep updating this as I figure out more stuff. As far as plot goes, I'm clueless, but the character development is interesting.

And what does this have to do with jewelry??
Posted by: Shalome
Who says "the ring" is a piece of jewelry?
ring
n.
1. A circular object, form, line, or arrangement with a vacant circular center.
2. A small circular band, generally made of precious metal and often set with jewels, worn on the finger.
5. A circular movement or course, as in dancing.
6. An enclosed, usually circular area in which exhibitions, sports, or contests take place: a circus ring.
9. An exclusive group of people acting privately or illegally to advance their own interests: a drug ring.

Hehe ... sometimes movies that don't make any sense tend to be considered "incredible" and "awesome" and "thought-provoking" by some quarters ... maybe to try and give off the impression that they understood the movie and the others did not, even though in actuality, they themselves have no idea what it was about, hehehe
sorry, not referring to anyone in this forum ... just something I remember saying to a friend of mine after we watched Ninth Gate....
