at the low, low cost of $478.64, i now have water again. unless this drought continues, in which case it will cost me another 1-2k. but for now, i have WATER!!!!!!

*does the happiest dance of her short little life*

Suddenly paying for bottled water seems reasonable

Posted by: TheeMon

ahh why u have a drought?

Posted by: redwench

um, the same reason anyone else has a drought. nature hasnt cooperated.

Posted by: darkknight1223

lol The drought is over for me to! YAY!

Posted by: TheeMon

ahh i never even new there was one

Posted by: Spider

We've been having a draught all year. The Denver Water company has funny ads like "brush every other tooth....it's a draught do something" or "real men shave dry" hehe

Posted by: Xtren

Us folks up in Canada who have our own wells haven't been experiencing a draught. Sucks to be you guys..... no but seriously, I think those prices really are crazy now, we buy quite a bit of bottled water ourselves, and it's getting to be much more reasonable than paying for city water for people like you Red.

Wench has a well.

Posted by: Hell's Wrath

Was it the pump wenchy???

Posted by: TheeMon

how she got a well where she lives? hell its illegal in my VILLAGE so its prolly illegal there, im running a pump myself and if i get caught its like 1200 bucks for the city to turn on a valve or whatever they gotta do to "rewaterize" my house (its all piped just after they did it some years back whoever owned my house just turned it off and hooked back up the well)

Posted by: Erekose

its illegal to have a well? somehow that doesnt make sense. i think id bathe in a river before id pay 1200 buck anyways

Posted by: redwench

its illegal to run a well in many municipalities, usually because the ground water isnt safe to drink. however, i dont live in a city, i dont even have muni water available to me. if i want water, i have to use a well

wrathy, the pump burned out because the well ran dry. new pump 10 feet deeper is the temporary fix until we get rain or i get a drilling rig out here.

Posted by: TheeMon

ahh u dont have any springs or anything near your house?

Posted by: redwench

thee, i live in what used to be the great black swamp. guess how likely springs are? and there is no real difference between a spring and a well, except one is naturally occuring, and one is manmade.

Posted by: AngstMerchant

And since we are on the subject, it's a recent topic and someone already made this error:

draught = something to drink

drought = nothing to drink

I believe we're a bit too far south and west for that.. we're in the formerly forested Mississippi River Valley.

Posted by: Spider

Oh jesus christ on a stick.

Posted by: TheeMon

red how big is this great black swamp? heh

Posted by: redwench

thee, it covered portions of several states. it made its own climate, if that tells you anything. id look it up to make sure of which states, but im lazy.

Posted by: TheeMon

all of ohio? is that why its swampy in some places?

Posted by: Qui Gon-Jinn

more on the great black swam here http://users.ipfw.edu/zeppp/Nature/swamp.html

I live in the desert.. we are having a drought to.. it rained a few weeks back.. but none since then.. and the rain we did get just lowered the fire danger.. think back 3 months to the Chedeski and Rodeo Fires.. that's about 100 mile north east of Phoenix..

Thankfully we have Municipal water.. and since I live in an apt. we don't pay for it.. still I try to take a shorter shower.. and use less water.. don't even run our dishwasher.. wife think's it doesn't do a good enough job.. LOL

Red... My Great Grandmother lived in Tenn.. and had a well.. I remember when the pump went out.. we went down to the creek with jugs and water cans.. hauled water for a week untill it was fixed... and when your a kid.. bathing in the creek is alot of fun.. but ya gotta use Ivory Soap.. cause it Floats.. LOL

Posted by: redwench

hehe
thee, i looked up the great black swamp myself. i was in error. it only covered parts of ohio and indiana, not illinois. but yes, thats why its swampy

Posted by: TheeMon

ahh the whole area isnt swampy just certian lower areas... heh

Posted by: redwench

well, yes, we drained the swamp thee.

*sends thee back to school*

Posted by: TheeMon

in school now... never heard of this black swamp though... and whyd the indians live in a swamp

Posted by: Gunslinger

If you are referring to native americans as indians, then, they chose the swamp because they thought it would be one place that the white man would not desire - thus, a place they can call their own.

Posted by: TheeMon

no... i mean the idians that resided in my area long b4 white men... and i dont no the exact ones so dont ask...

Posted by: Erekose

thee thats what hes talking about...
