Smallpox Vaccinations in the U.S.

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

What is the deal with this? I keep hearing how the U.S. is gearing up to give smallpox vaccinations to the entire population of the U.S. The only problem is that out of the millions and millions that get vaccinated, some will die from it. Is this going to be a mandatory thing?

I for one do not want it. If at anytime I can avoid putting my life at risk, I will avoid it, and this is one of those times. Perhaps if there was an outbreak somewhere in the U.S., then I would consider, but not as a preventive measure. Whats the point of getting vaccinated for a deadly disease if the vacine can kill you? I remember seeing an estimate that 100,000+ people would die from the vaccination.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is another installment of the fear tactics the Bush administration has been employing to keep us afraid. If Americans fear terrorists, it is more likely the warmongers in this country will get the public backing they need to get their bomb on in Iraq, yo.

its rumor mongering. just manufacturing enough vaccine would take a year, even supposing it could be done. the fatalities are exaggerated however, because vaccination manufacture has vastly improved since we last made a small pox vaccine.
you might get 100k adverse reactions, that wouldnt surprise me at all. but not 100k deaths. quite frankly, that would be too high of a fatality rate to risk without an active outbreak.
you also have to realize that every vaccine, every drug, has side effects. in large populations, that will include fatalities. aspirin kills people. hell, people voluntarily expose themselves to drugs that will kill them, out of pleasure, not for medical necessity.
but i do believe that the governments intentions for smallpox vaccine would be the same as those for anthrax, which is to stockpile enough doses for the entire population, in case of an outbreak. the government couldnt afford to vaccinate everyone simply as a precautiong.

Actually, +100k people dying would be if smallpox broke out in the US.

The government has chosen not to vaccinate the U.S. population unless there is an attack, because the vaccination also carries dangers. If the entire population were to receive the vaccine, an estimated 300 to 350 people could die.

From CNN's story.

The BBC News page has a juicy shot of a pronounced smallpox case. It's beefy. . . .not for the faint of heart. FYI.

The 'vaccination' would totally be the vector for mind control and tracking devices.
