hey there. experiencing major problems! was using Windows ME, and it started doing weird stuff after i installed too much software (AVG, which i uninstalled and replaced with pccillin, which came with my mobo) and other software too.
In the end the problem became really severe. Reinstalled ME after a complete format of my HD, but the problem was still there! My pc thinks my AGP 3D Prophet 2 MX Dual Display Geforce II is a PCI Graphics card! Not sure but think it's using the same resources as the ACPI somehow.
After the last installation of ME, i made an emergency startup disk when prompted, but when i later checked the floppy for errors, THREE ERRORS WERE REPORTED!!! And NONE of them are repairable!
I'm really out of my depth here, HELP ME please!!!
PS - My Graphics are REALLY corrupted! i'm lost, HELP!!! :SNIFF:

Try disabling PTSNOOP or whatever it is. And make sure, as ElmStreet said, Make your video startup be AGP and not PCI. I had a problem rather similar to that when I installed my GF2 MX 400 onto my old 450 platform. Try those and post back the results.

Hi thanks people. Sorry i always did have the graphics card set to agp. It wasn't until i changed it back to pci, then swithched off automatic resource settings in device manager, THEN *wheezes* (lol) removed the graphics card, rebooted, that Windows finally accepted i DID have an AGP card
Now i have a different problem. I installed GTAIII onto the os, first time i tried to play it i got a msg something like, 'GTAIII needs at least 12mb of memory to run. Please close some applications and try again.' !
The problem is, i have plenty of memory (256mb ddr) and with only the bare bones stuff running, i'm experiencing MAJOR slowdown when playing the game, steadily worsening the longer i'm playing.
I know something still ain't right, and i've been warned off flashing my bios (for the past year and a half) by friends, colleagues etc. Do You still think this may be where the problem lies?
Thank You ElmStreet and TheAOD for Your replies and help given.

PS - I'm just gonna investigate the PTSNOOP (palettesnoop?) thing. Much obliged.
