A pretty big problem

Ok so I just bought a new case, and socket 7 board (MB-8500TVX
I started it with a 90Mhz put the HDs I had b4 on primary master and slave and then I tried to start my win 95 as it was b4.
*My Hds were stored in a closet in the basement but were sealed in special bags*
So I put 96 of Ram on the board I got it started without the CD-Rom because when I try putting the Cd-Rom on secondary master (thats how its always been)
It doesn't even start up and all the power seems to be down since it acts as if the ribbon was upsode down so I try it the other way and it still doesn't work.
So I decide to start it without the Drive and it took about 5 mins to detect the os on the hd
ok Hd stats :
C: is a WD 1223MB HD
D: Is a seagate 854MB
Anyway when I start it detects all the new motherboard resources and then I get prompted without choice to restart the machine to make the changes take effect.
Since then I tried formatting my C but it just says ALL DATA WILL BE LOST and I do Y but the nit just shows C: and nothing happened.
so I try deleting some folders in DOS but it just made my prob more complicating.
So then I take my MS-DOS 6.22 Installation disks
and install them on the D starting the machine with oNLY the D on so it is logicallly the C: then I restart HOPING to get at least an MS-Dos start up and it says Disk I/O ERROR replace the disk and press any key so I got real angry truned the machine off and put all the diskettes away.
I really need to know if it could be my HDS in problem and why my cd-rom screws everything up....

Have you tried fdisking the drives with an MS-Dos startup disk from another machine? Partitions may be wacked out, so might as well rebuild them. Hope that helps..

Thx I tried refdisking on the same machine but the HD keep restarting after reaching 10 of verifying
thx I got my D: almost installed with win95C but it says a boot sector write VIRUS was detected and my machine freezes to protect itself
I got my cd rom working too look at my IDE set up
I put my WD on sec master to make it the D: since its its fed anyway
WD : Sec master
Cdrom : sec slave
Seagate D: prim slave
PRim master empty
My psu might be crappy well in the sense that only 3 drivese are alimented at a time a foloppy drive
ONLY A 200 W I noticed it after buying the case though its enough til I buy new hds and a PSU
I also need to know how high my chispet might take in GBS

There should be something in the BIOS that allows you disable virus protection if it is enabled, which from what I have read, it is. That is most probably the source of your problem. And what exactly do you plan on doing with this machine?

its a 90mhz its gonna be hooked to my DSL soon and itll be boosted to a 233 since the board has a max of a K5 200, or an INTEL Pentium 266 so I am ok
I also got 4 SIMMS of 32 so I got 128 hooked to Win95C
Why would I disable it if it stops me from infection!!
thx

Yay and DAMN I got my WDC partioned in (fdisks as we call it) and then I get ready to format it tells me TRACK 0 is bad Format terminated...
I REALLY need to know if the boot sector thing is bad cuz if it dangrous for my bois or hds plz let me know b4 I strt installing everything in
(Windows 95,software,new hds , new CPU thx)

From what I have read and from my own experiences, the virus protection in the BIOS isn't a real virus protection. Not too clear though, but it prevents major changes to important parts of the computer, like the boot sector of an HD, which includes installing an OS. A bad sector means the HD is bad and should be replaced.

If you are questioning the file in your boot sector, type the command /fdisk mbr from a boot disk.
You should not do this if you are using a boot setup for multiple operating systems. Otherwise, that should start you with a clean link to the operating system and delete any malicious files.

Thx I got everything hooked up recently..
I am planning on putting a 5.4 GB in it and the slave will be my what is now the C: at 854 MBs.
I also got a call from my local 2nd hand / NEW hardware and he told me 2 processeurs were working and they were sold at about 35$ they are 233's and 200's MMX too..
Right now my 90Mhz is doing ok i hooked it to the net recently ( about 30 mins ago and got winzip installed plus my video drivers and sound so THX A LOT FOR SUPPORT!

If you can drop a 233mmx into it, you "may" be able to get an older K6 450 or something like that for even more power.

nope cuz my socket 7 mobo cant take more than 266 on any chip company

If your hard-drive with the sector 0 problem still isn't working, it could be exacty that which is the problem.
If sector 0 is screwed the hard-drive becomes utterly useless, well no that's not true, it becomes a large paper-weight.
