Video editing program with alot of features.
GetDiz
Notepad replacement - Also handles ascii art
Winamp
Audio player
Trillian

I'll probably come up with more later

Should this be limited to freeware, or can it contain shareware or adware? Only adware to a point, of course.
Posted by: stealer
Freeware would be the best of course. But shareware that is functional like Zonealarm would be fine to.
Programs that time out after 30 days would be best to avoid.
Stealer

AIM
Instant Messaging Software
Mirc
Messaging/downloading Program-Connects to IRC
Adware
Gets Rid of spyware
3dmark 2001
Video Bench Marking Program
WS_FTP LE
Free FTP Program
I also use Trillian and WinAmp.

Very useful for people who like to tweak their computers:
TweakUI (aka "Powertoys") - Available from www.microsoft.com
A helluva lot of tweaks for any Windows version
Motherboard Monitor 5 - http://mbm.livewiredev.com/
Monitor temperatures, fan RPMs, voltages, and more.
SiSoft Sandra - http://www.sisoftware.demon.co.uk/sandra/
Hardware benchmarking utility
WCPUID - www.h-oda.com
Utility that shows you clock speeds, FSB speeds, multipliers, CPU cache size and speeds, and more.
Coolmon - http://www.arsware.org/coolmon/
Bitchin customizable utility that places stats on your desktop
This pic shows you Coolmon, WCPUID, and MBM (and Winamp, but someone already mentioned that).
As an aside, I should tell you that you need MBM5 installed if you want Coolmon to display temperatures and fan speeds.

I honestly can't remember, but here's the one I'm using now (1024x768) if you want it.
Posted by: taco_fox
Rather than make four posts, I'll might as well upload them to a web account. These are all 1024x768.
(right click and save-as)
Red Blade Liger
Liger Zero Jager (the new series)
Liger Zero Schneider (the new series)
Heh, sorry for the thread hijack, but I'm just helping out a fellow Zoid fan.

If I try and access those files I get the following:
HTTP1.1 STATUS 403 Remote Access to this object forbidden This file cannot be directly accessed from a remote site, but must be linked through the Brinkster Member's site.

Nevermind, I changed the links in the other post. You can click on them now.

I can't believe no one mentioned CDex! It's a fantastic opensource CD ripper/mp3 encoder. I recommend it highly!

Here's a few mp3 utilities that are useful. I only used the Audio WAV to MP3 Converter (last one on the list) and it really good.

Tight VNC, a remote desktop administration program.
VDMSound, a driver for WinNT/2k/XP that emulates sound under DOS. Get all your sounds in all your old dos games!
Exult, a windows engine for the Ultima 7 games. (More game than software, but still extremely cool).
Shoutcast, host your own internet radio station.
Peercast, a P2P based broadcasting program.
WinMX, the absolute best filesharing program there is.

I used this to prove how shoddy my isp was. After
e-mailing them proof, I was very surprised to see
them take the same amount of action as before.
Ahem, none. It fun to play around with anyway

What about free and full OS optimizers for slower comps
Ram freeers disk defraggers
I need some sites for those
TWEAK UI is good
Posted by: ZeRo_MaXwInG
RAM Idle - Manages memory/CPU usage as well as set up cache sizes either by user definition or the templates they already have there.
http://www.tweaknow.com/ramidl.html
Cacheman - Almost the same thing as RAM Idle except I find that it uses up more system resources. Has more bells and whistles though.
http://www.outertech.com/downloads....b25aaa333a5c0d6 (they have a list of other software too but I have only used cacheman.)
Oh yeah, thanks for the heads up Bezerker. I'll test it out sometime tomorrow.

Try this Ram optimizer:
RAMBooster 1.6
@ Download.com

Polaris F-Serv
Very nifty script.
