ok heres what happens, so i feel like adding more memory so i add another like 90MB then my computer goes crazy on me and it keeps restarting when it gets like half way, or i will go into safe mode and it will mess up and restart, basically i can't get anywhere. i took the mb out and tried and its still all screwy so i don't know what it could be? every now and then i was able to get to safe mode and one time i actually got to the desktop but it restarted by itself in about 4 minutes. i have no idea whats happening to it because i am on it now and it seems to be running fine??? it doesn't make sense i had it off all night to if that helps. thanks
Model: Compaq PC(Compaq)
AMD K6-II 400MHz
64 Mb
RAGE LT PRO AGP 2X
Microsoft Windows ME U.S. English 4.90
thanks a lot!

Sounds like a bad power supply.

Compaq and ram.. Man there are SO many issues around with that. Make sure you added the right type of ram to it. Compaq isn't a very good source for adding things to, and when it comes to some things, it just gets really screwy. Make sure you have the exact same ram for it, if you don't, the compcrap motherboard may just go haywire with the ram. Which could easily be your problem.

Try removing the ram that you added, and see if things start to work right. heh if not, then we'll get a little deeper into the mystery that is prebuilt systems.

ok, i guess that makes sense now because i noticed the first time when i rebooted it said invalid ram or something similar to that. i took the ram out and it was being a big pain last night, i got many errors when i rebooted like, "Error: OE :0028 :74C003C8" "Invalid system disk, Replace disk, and then press any key" (there was no disk in) and "windows protection error. You need to restart the computer. system halted" and this is all after i took all the MB out and left the original one in. so far it was off all day and its running fine now besides an illegal operation on explorer everytime i reboot, but i can live with that. i will keep posting if it still gives me problems, but please post if you have any idea why its giving me those errors because i got them even with the right RAM in. thanks
