Athlon XP 1900+ Temperature

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Ever_Ready51

What temperature should my CPU be running at? What is normal and what is within limits? Right now its running at 77 C. Is this normal and if not will it last long at this temp? Thanks

That temperature is not normal. You are having cooling problems. That is hot.

I maxed out during the hottest summer heat wave (40+C)at 71C for my 2000+.

I suggest you read this thread:

AT idle with room ambient temperature of only 22C, I get 58C for my XP 2000+

That's way high.. With decent cooling you should be able to get down to at least 40C or somewhere close at an idle. Check all your fans and equipment.. You may have a problem somewhere. heh

I don't see how an Athlon Xp 1500+ is seen as disposable. He must either work for AMD or is rich rich rich. Another survival technique learned. Useful when a frying pan is nowhere in sight...

XP1500+'s are dirt cheap. You can get them below 100$.

Yea, you can get the Xp1500+ and Xp1600+ for around $50-$55.

$58 at Newegg, which is funny since you can get a AGOIA 1600+ for $54 (the infamous AGOIA 0213Y is one of the best overclocker chips AMD presently has).

edit: hmm nevermind, the 1600s have gone up to $56 since I bought one on Saturday. Running low on AGOIAs, I guess.

Well, that's abt a bazillion dollars CDN.. I never checked in a while and assumed their around the 100 dollar range (CDN). $50-55 USD is a good price for one though.
