war2 in windows xp

does anyone out there have any idea how to get war2 non bne edition. Cant get the bne patch to work on it either. to work in windows xp. I have tryed the supposed compatabilty mode which does not seem to work.............any ideas?????/

Okay, just to clarify (and correct me if I'm wrong), are you telling us that you can't get Warcraft II (non-battle.net edition) to run on Windows XP, even in compatibility mode?
Do you get any specific error messages or does it just crash or does it just not run?

I can't really explain why the Original version of Warcraft 2 will not run properly in compatibility mode, however, I can say that the BNE patch will not apply to the original version in compatibility mode.
Cop-out as it may be, I'd suggest just picking up a copy of Battle.net Edition. You can get it with change from the couch.

no you get no errors or messages. It just lauches the dos box, goes into full screen then dumps out to windows.
