St. Louis is gonna need some Oops! I crapped my pants after the Giants mow them down. Maybe they could borrow the leftovers that the Braves have?
Posted by: Bobaroo
Since the Yankees lost I consider baseball being over.
But the Cards are winning it all.
Posted by: TotalRecall
Is it about over? Enough baseball already..it's taken over late-night TV.

GO PATRIOTS
Posted by: Bishlopim
The Giants can sit their sorry asses down and let the Scott Rolenless Cardinals mow THEM down.
Go Dodgers Yeah! Maybe next year...
But for now I've got to root for my second team, the ANGELS! I hate the yankees and am overly joyed that they lost to the Angels.
Tie game right now... 1-1

GO DILLIGAF CRICKET TEAM!!!twenty six

Hell no Bish! Giants are gonna rock!!!
-uh...ok
Posted by: SKYHN
Thats just it, without Scott Rolen, the Cardinals are screwed.
Arizona lost to St. Louis lost because the Diamondbacks suck. All they have is 2 good pitchers.
Aurilia, Kent, Bonds, Santiago, Snow, Lofton - One of the best lineups in baseball today. Who does St. Louis have?
Posted by: SKYHN
I thought St. Louis was gonna win?
What happen?
Giants beat us 9 to 6!
Posted by: Gunslinger
Well, if you wanna talk about lineups, St.Louis has the best offensive lineup in baseball this year.
Also, any team can beat any other team at any given time -- regardless of whether or not they have Scott Rolen in their lineup, or if Barry Bonds has a sore left armpit hair.
It was game one. When the series is over, then we can start tooting our respective horns.

Nice avatar Skyhn.

I remember around the 8th inning, i was talking to a guy on DAOC. He goes "I smell a tie game". Then when schmidt struck out the last batter, I said "The smell of a tie game has been replaced with that of a strikeout".
Posted by: Gunslinger
Schmidt pitched one hell of a game, I must say.
Posted by: uh...ok
Hrm, I'm not watching baseball and haven't been... but is Schmidt the closer?
What happened to Nen?
-uh...ok
Posted by: SKYHN
Schmidt was the winning pitcher. Nen came in in the 8th and pitched the rest of the game. In 119 pitches, Schmidt threw something like 86 strikeouts.

Yup, he could have. So I did it for him.

Despite the 4-1 series finish, it was a pretty evenly matched series. The games were very close. The Cardinals made more mistakes than the Giants did.
Good series.
Posted by: SKYHN
I love how Lofton got the series winning hit. Talk about ultimate revenge.
BTW, the pennant is the title of NL Champions.

NL champs? What's NL? Please, excuse my ignorance in the matter.

Two teams win the penant in baseball.
One team in the American league...The Angels this year and One team in the National league...The Giants this year.
The two penant winners go face each other in the World Series.

Sigh... wait, where is it this year?

Posted by: Bobaroo
The American league is the "home" team this year.
So the first two games are in Anaheim, then the next two in SF, game 5 in Anaheim, game 6 in SF and then game 7 is in Anaheim.
I think that is how it goes.

Giants Win game 1
Posted by: Bishlopim
F**K the f**king Angels. I can't take it. They're bullpen giving up all those f**king runs like that after being so dominant. Well, it's times like these I'm happy to say that I'm a true blue Dodger fan. So it's not all that important to me. But then again I really hate the Giants being a Dodger fan. I just can't win.
Posted by: SKYHN
Tonights game was the crazziest baseball game Ive ever seen. And when Bonds hit that homerun to the moon, I thought the night wasnt over.
Ortiz dropped the ball tonight though, I dont think he will be on the giants pitching staff next season. Him and Reuter.
Posted by: Bishlopim
Definitely a sweet game. I never saw that ball come down. All the fans there in right field were completely motionless just looking at it go over there heads. I sure am glad they held on to win it though.
Posted by: SKYHN
It seems that ESPN has located how far the homerun Barry Bonds hit the other night went:
4,000,000 ft.
Posted by: uh...ok
Errr SKYHN you got some sig figs goin' wrong there...
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- A real estate investor who fought off five men to snag the ball launched by Barry Bonds in the ninth inning of Game 2 of the World Series has plans to donate it to a breast-cancer research foundation.
David Behrend, 34, of Santa Monica, was standing with his sister by the tunnel near Section 238 in Edison Field on Sunday when Bonds' shot went over his head, bounced twice though the tunnel and off a concession stand. The ball was hit an estimated 485 feet.

The game last night was a very good game for the Angels. They absolutely crushed the pathetic Giants pitching and scored 10 runs without a single home run.
One thing I really HATE though. Is how Barry Bonds walks half way to first watching his home run until it comes down. And then when he finally starts going around he jogs at a VERY slow pace. Almost as if he's saying, "Damn! You mean I have to run all the way around these bases AGAIN!"
Posted by: SKYHN
It doesnt matter if they scored with or without homeruns, both teams pitching sucked. 21 runs total. If Barry Bonds wants to watch him homesruns, let him, just about every player that hits a homerun does that, only his go a lot further
Anyways, I caught a foul ball tonight from Reggie Sanders. This guy behind me tried to grab it over my head but I jumped and caught it. That was pretty cool. I was hoping to see another Bonds homerun tonight, but those 3 intentional walks were pretty lame.

uh, why do you think babe ruth hit so many damned home runs. man was too fat to leg it out to first base, so if he hit a homerun he could take his sweet damned time going around
Posted by: Bishlopim
Yeah, but that's not the point. Besides it's not like Barry is a slow runner or anything he had some hamstring problems earlier this year but he's ok now. Besides if you can hit home runs as well and as consistent as he can you're probably going to try and hit a home run when you are up. That's if they pitch to him anyways.
And about the Barry walking at first thing. Did you see Jeff Kent walk at all when he hit his home run tonight? Or how about Rich Aurilia when he hit is the other night? I didn't.
Posted by: SKYHN
Tonights game was awesome. We got there a bit late, but still made it for the bottom of the 1st inning. Thankfully where we are staying was only about 15 mins away from the ball park. No Bonds homerun tonight, but the 2 Kent and 1 Aurillia hit more than made up for it.
Im thinking maybe I will go to the Anaheim games. Perhaps I can stay with my uncle there so I dont have to drive 6 hours up and back each time.
Posted by: uh...ok
Who wants to bet that they're not gonna let Bonds hit at all in Game 6?
-uh...ok
Posted by: Bishlopim
Well, THE ANGELS ONE!!! OMFG How did they pull that one off? They were down by 5 runs in the bottom of the seventh and came back to win. What an awesome game. I'm telling you man, it's the rally monkey. All the runs cam after he came out.
Posted by: Bishlopim
Oh yeah, Both starting pitchers did a WHOLE lot better than last time. Russ Ortiz definitely pitched well enough to win. And Francisco Rodriguez aka k-rod wasn't as dominate as before. He gave up a Bonds home run. And I forget the other one. But he did strike bonds out the next time on a terrible pitch.
Posted by: uh...ok
This is not a flame.
ANGELS SUCK OMG THEY SUCK. THEY SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE WON THAT GAME. THEY ONLY GOT LUCKY COZ HERNANDEZ WAS BEING STUPID IN THE FIRST INNING. GIANTS SHOULDA WON!!!

Bonds should be named MVP.
But we all know that only one player that was on the losing team has been named MVP in the history of baseball. BOOOO.
Posted by: SKYHN
That was such BS that Bonds didnt get MVP. And they only reason they did it was so they wouldnt piss off 80% of the crowd. They said Glaus was right there with Bonds. Yeah right, Bonds had a 1.294 slug avg, .471 hitting avg, as well as the homeruns and everything else. Glaus was the best player on the Angels, but he was not the best in the world series. What a joke.
At least Bonds will get the NL MVP for the season.
Posted by: SKYHN
Heres a comparison of their stats for the World Series.
Posted by: Gunslinger
The MVP is not decided solely as a function of that players batting statistics. There are intangibles.
While having relatively equal stats, Glaus came through in the cluth in game 6 and was part of the 7th inning comeback (and for anyone that wants to call that "luck", you can stfu, omg duh).
Yeah. Barry hit homeruns, and his slugging percentage was high. When you hit the ball as hard as Barry does, you won't be settling for too many singles, so that slugging percentage will be off the scale. Whoppity doo.
I'm not putting down Barry. He's the best hitter in baseball right now. But, Glaus was a better selection for MVP, because in the end, he was truly more valuable. I didn't see Barry contributing to any late-game comeback last night.
And from that, I'll segue, and end, on this: The team makes the player. No player can really earn the MVP without having his teammates doing their part to put him in that position. Game 6 alone is enough to give it to Glaus.
