Winamp Volume Changes

I don't know exactly what you would call this problem, but here goes: Whenever I play an mp3 in winamp, it plays somwhat faintly, if I tell it to paly the same mp3 agian, it sounds much, much better, and I've no idea why. I'm thinking its playing the front speakers in the back, and back in the front, but I don't know.
Note that this doesn't happen if the same song loops continously. Its only when I play a a differnt mp3, or the likes.
AMD Athlon XP 1700+
Abit KG-7
SB Live! X-Gamer 5.1, set at 5.1 speakers, via Creative Audio HQ
Klipsch 5.1's
Note that this doesn't happen on my other machine, with a similar setup.

Don't use your mouse wheel while you have winamp selected.
Mousewheel = volume slider.
