May the "Links Folder" die and rot

I have this thing with redundant things. They really piss me off. And nothing does that better than the "Links" folder under Favorites in Internet Explorer. I can't understand why they put it there in the first place. And on top of that, they made it so I can't permanently delete it. It keeps coming back everything I relaunch IE.
Does anyone know how I can chuck it once and for all? Help is GREATLY appreciated.

I am not sure if you have done this, but I'll take a chance and say it anyway (apologies if you did this already):
On your IE top menu, try going to VIEW, then TOOLBARS, and uncheck LINKS ... then close your browser and then relaunch it, and see if the Links thing still comes up ... good luck and keep us posted...

Simply delete the "Links" folder.
Or right click in the links bar in IE and uncheck "links"

Memn, if you just delete it, it grows back (not sure if this is specific to Windows 2000 or to a version of IE, though).
Personally, I find the Links folder really handy... it creates a toolbar full of hot links that I put next to the Address bar, and I use it all the time. That's just one geek's opinion, though!

Delete the "Links" Folder in Windows Explorer, then make a text file and name it "Links" without the quotes, and delete the .txt extension. Open the new "Links" file properties, and check the hidden and read only options. The Links folder will never appear again.

The end result should look like the attached image.
This works for all folders in the Favorites folders, just make a new text file for each one. It’s particularly handy for blocking those pesky "From ICQ" folders.

Thx, Shal
I use the links almost all the time. Very handy at work and home. I also enjoy the cool icon the OTS.net has while in the links bar. Laggy is so slick.

For some reason, Links has not reappeared yet, but at least now I know what to do once it does.
Thanks a bunch everyone (:
