Surveillance Cameras

Should you be notified if surveillance cameras are watching you? How do you feel about your privacy?

Posted by: redwench

depends. if its in a place where you have a reasonable expectation of privacy, such as a bathroom or changing room, of course. public places like parking lots, streets, train stations, i would expect there to be cameras. a private business shouldnt have to inform you, but it would be nice.

If you are in a place that isn't 100% open to the public, then yes, they should have to notify you.

I'd rather like to avoid being caught on camera scratching my nuts or something.

Only place I think you need to be notified would be in your hotel/motel/apartment, or if it is installed without your permission on your property, or where you live. In other words those places where you would think your privacy should be guaranteed

Restrooms should be off limits.

other than that I don't care.

Don't care, just as long as its a public place.

depends basicallly on what the other people said. not bathroom/changing rooms

i feel that if it's completely a public place, then no, you do not need to be informed, but your work place, bathrooms, ect...., you should be informed.

this poll makes me think of that movie Sliver! i would not doubt if there are many hotels or apartment buildings out there in the real world that may have a similar set up, such as what was in the movie!

hotels arent permitted to by law. might be a few that have it, but not many. its also illegal for landlords to do it. always a few scofflaws however

Yes. Unless it's a public place, like a college or department store, then, I don't think it matters. But as stated above, for anywhere not one-hundred-percent public, you should be made aware that you're under surveillance.
