*edit*

ok, nevermind, i should finishing reading the original post before continuing on...

It's ok, I'm settling this through PM, thanks for your concern though... let's not allow THIS thread to go any further though.

Tweaker made a judgement call in closing it... it could have gone either way, but you have to understand that the mods are now in a high state of alert due to the criticism being thrown their way.

The chat transcript was from TG IRC, and that is under the jurisdiction of The-Group.Org, since it happened in their territory. If uh..ok merely posted a rant about what was said, that would have been the end of it. But attaching a "transcript" of the chat session that took place in the TG IRC server made the difference. I am surprised that uh..ok did not post this rant at the TG forums, since it is more their alley than here - unless he wants to know what the OTS people think about bigotism in general...

I COULD reopen the thread, but really, if this delves any deeper into TG territory, I will close it again. Honestly this discussion is better suited at the TG forums, but hey, people have recently been objecting about not letting topics run their course... so now we'll see...

edit: Seeing uh..ok's post, I decided not to reopen it... things like this can get really personal, and we're trying to prove our detractors wrong by exercising good judgement... Thanks for the feedback tho...

Laggy, I meant settling it through PM *with Tweaker*... I was wondering why he closed it.

Your call. And as a response, yes I was more interested in what OTS people thought in general about how the words "gay" and "f**" have been incorporated in our everyday language.

I was writing up a reply until Tweaker's close-thread stopped me. I could not salvage the contents of the reply, but the general thesis was (besides ignoring Swiz's flame-bait) a reply to redwench's post: that it is BECAUSE "gay" and "f**" are so widely used that I see it as an injustice.

Because if I don't speak up against it, who will?

-uh...ok
P.S. If you do choose to re-open the thread, perhaps merging this one into it will provide further clarification.

In that case, I still won't reopen it ... post it at TG, if you like ... sorry.

No prob, have a good day.

I made the decision to close the thread because uh...ok made a remark about a fellow member here (SwizzleStick) concerning Bigotism which according to the rules is not allowed. Also the thread was about another site which is also not allowed. I saw this thread heading south real fast. I think we have had enough of that shit this week.

What is the thread about though? I don't understand... was a large portion (including the first post) deleted or something, or is it a deliberatly mysterious topic?

ahem uh_ok, ignorance shouldn't be excused, people that are immersed in this completely unaccountable world should be held accountable by the community they surrond themselves in. though granted the post broke some ots rules.

To me it would be much more bothering to hear younger people using those words than teenagers, even though people shouldn't use those kind of insults either way. By younger people I mean elementary school kids. It makes you think anout what kind of parents they have, and where the hell they learned to use that language. I few weeks ago I went down to a tennis court with one of my friends. We got there and there were a bunch of kids, probably not even ten years old, that were skateboarding and stuff. The next thing you know we start playing, and out of nowhere they start throwing insults at us just out of the blue. When a bunch of little kids start using words like homosexual and ****face you know that something is wrong. I personally found this pretty disturbing, when I was at that age I never really swore from what I can remember. In fact I still try not to swear now if I can help it, and I usually only do when I'm angry, not using the words as insults. Another thing that bothered me was that they were doing it for no reason other than to make some sort of an impression on us.

At any age insults are an awful thing, and they seem to only be growing in number, which is really gives a bad impression of the young generation if you think about it. I realize the thread was closed and did break some rules, but I still wanted to get my opinion on the whole situation across.
