I am master of the obvious (re: post counts)

So.. no more post counts outside of the profile? I didn't get the memo

..I don't like not knowing what's going on

Posted by: Xtren

Well everyone has been told that there will be numerous changes made to the site, this probably only bring a small one. I would be prepared to see many more unusual things happen to the boards over the course of the next week or two...

Hehe ... post counts are still visible in the profile page

I removed them because people have been telling me that, in order to emphasize the fact that this forum is not about post counts, and to promote quality over quantity, it would be better to hide the post counts from plain view...

And I think it is nicer this way ... people will concentrate more on what they post instead of how much they post ... don't you think?

Posted by: redwench

why would anyone care about post counts anyway? i dont get the great interest.

Posted by: Xtren

Doesn't really matter to me either... for anyone that might actually think this believable. I think the purpose is pretty good here, with even less emphasis on the post count people may start putting more content into their posts (not that that's a major problem around here anyway).

Posted by: Spider

Yeah, it's not like any of us are ever going to catch up to Lito's made-up number, anyway.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Hah, I dare anyone to prove that I made up this post count

Posted by: Spider

clickyclickclickclick

I see only thirty-seven hundred posts!!

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Your link's not working

And you mean 3700 topics (plus 200+ topics in private forums), right?

Keep counting, I can wait

Posted by: Spider

Aight, my bad, yeah, that's all topics, I searched on posts, and it came back as upwards of 7400!

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Hah

Posted by: Null Actor

Yeah, but no one warns him for spamming...

Posted by: Null Actor

BTW, you used to be able to click on the avatar to go to profile info... you should add that back in.

Yeah I just noticed that too.

As for number of posts..... who really gives a crap.

As long as OTS dosn't switch to the very childish character rating thing I see on some other boards.

That's coz I know how to moderate myself, unlike some people

Anyway, the avatar is clickable again ... and yeah Heathen, I was never really a fan of those ridiculous RPG-like stat bars in other forums

Posted by: Spider

Aight, if clicking the avatar brings up the profile, why do we need a "profile" button? Remove, remove!

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Nah, it's good to have an "obvious" button for people who would ask "so how I do I look at someone's profile?"

Posted by: Bobaroo

We need the profile button there, it would look to bare with just the "search" button underneath our avatar.

Posted by: Xtren

A lot of posts seem to have been deleted though... I remember once Laggy's count went from like 6500 posts to 5900 some... so he probably has even more than 7400 posts in total.

Posted by: justinious

What ever happened to the "new post" button at the top?

Posted by: Xtren

"New post" button? Maybe I'm out of it today but I don't think I know what you mean... the new thread and post reply buttons are there...

Posted by: Canis Lupus

I removed the "new post" button from the row of buttons on top simply coz I wanted to make room for other buttons... besides, you can always check new posts in the link found at the main forum index...
