Simple poll with simple choices. Ain't it great?

This only applies to the computer you are currently using to view and/or vote in this poll

Immaterial. Why do you have such a high speed processor??

What in the bluest hell are you talking about? 1297mhz = 1.3ghz

Posted by: AngstMerchant

Right. I would think an 800 MHz processor would be ample for gaming. Why do you need a 1.3 GHz processor??

Eh...I dont really get what your talking about. Whens the last time you played a PC game, 2-3 years ago? Try playing UT2k3 on an 800mhz machine, or Morrwind, or just about any other PC game out within the last year. I dont know about you, but I dont like to play games at 15fps.

That's not fast, that CPU probably doesn't even get sold anymore. And even if it does, you can get a few 100 MHz more for a few dollars extra and you will notice the difference.

As a matter of fact, I know someone with a P3-866 and a GF4 4200 and his framerates are not high at all at high quality settings because his CPU is too slow.

As for the poll, I'm using an XP1800.
I'm using all of that speed too, SETI rulez.
Not that I bought the CPU for that, video editing takes forever with a slow CPU...

Posted by: redwench

800 ample? that barely meets the minimum req for current games. a 1.3G is considered low end. in fact a 2.0G is now where the cheap comps are.

Posted by: bLaCkOuT

P3 450 ... curses ... y'all are making me want to upgrade again.

Must ... hold ... off the ... need! Ack.

Geez angst, you are gonna lose your geek card pretty soon. I've had a 1400mhz athlon processor for over a year and a half...

uh there's a sticker on my laptop that says Athlon 4... but its in a WinXP machine. Does that make it Athlon XP? any ways i believe its 1.2 GHz

Posted by: ZeRo_MaXwInG

The OS has nothing to do with the chip.

He just thought an Athlon XP is an Athlon processor with Windows XP... which is not true of course. They're just two totally different chips.

WTF Are you kidding me? I used a GeForce4 MX 440 for over a year. It is NOT crappy video card.

My processor is a Amd Athlon XP 2400+
And now I'm a proud owner of a GeForce FX 5700 Ultra, which I can't really find a use for. It's just for show I guess. Anything I throw at it, it makes beautiful ^^.

Posted by: Superfly3176

Might not be crappy but sure is outdated. Some of the newer games don't support MX series.

Posted by: Araym

Across two machines here I'm running a Pally 2000 and a 478 Willy 1.6.

I was thinking of bumping my 2000 to a Barton 3000+, but I've been eyeing a SCSI/Sata Raptor setup for a while now...

Decisions.
