Building PC with a PS2 case

Has anyone seen any good examples on the web of a PC created inside of a Playstation 2 case? I'm thinking of taking on the project here as soon as I have the funds, but I'm afraid that I won't even know where to start.

You probably won't be able to do it. I have never seen a motherboard that would fit properly inside the PS2 case. Even a laptop motherboard is the wrong dimensions.

Yeah, I know I will have to take measurements of all the current standards to see which one will fit. I'm not sure yet how that's going to work out.

You're just not going to find a modern motherboard that will fit in a PS2 case. Where would you put the hard drive? The CD bay isn't even the correct size...

I would work.
Mind you its not going to look anything like a PS2 case when your done.

The PS2 has a Standard 3.5 inch IDE Hard Drive bay right below the DVD Drive.
Maybe try looking at some of those "MicroPC" or "MiniPC"(or whatever they call those small cases) parts. The Mobos for them are pretty small.

Sorry, it's all in Korean, but it has a lot of pictures. This is all I came up with after a quick search.

The PS/2 already is a PC *sort of*. I believe it uses a MIPS processor. Not sure though....
Sony sells a kit for the PS/2 that will turn your console into a Linux server. It essentially comes with the network adapter, a hard drive, and keyboard/mouse stuff.
The kit runs about $200, which may be cheaper than putting pc parts in the case and ruining any chance of console gaming on it.

The console is already dead, so that is not an issue. I'm not sure what parts are going to be used yet, but give me credit here people! Of course I know that there are space restrictions here, but If you can imagine what I'm considering to get around some of this stuff. I am actually considering using an external CD-ROM drive for this project. I plan to have working USB, and I'll probably either have four ports of USB or a USB hub external. I'm not sure yet. The machine will be a Windows unit. Sorry Linux fans!
