I have pentium III 933 processor/ windows me/ 256 ram and windows me operating system. I want to upgrade my video card to play the newer games and want one that will give me the best performance for my operating system. I was considering the geforce Ti 4200 128 mb card. Would this card be suited for my system or is it overkill. Also would there be any installation or cooling problems? Thanks for any help.

its way overkill on your current system. but if you have plans for serious upgrading or a new comp in the near future, its certainly worth buying.
if you plan on keeping this system for a while, get a gf3. will be your most economical choice.

Actually, the 4200 tends to be pretty cheap nowadays, usually cheaper than any GF3s you can find (since most places don't even carry them anymore).
It's not necessarily overkill either, especially since that card will be decent for a while, and if you upgrade your cpu later, you'll get even more life out of it.
Edit: To elaborate, the only thing you could really get that's cheaper than the 4200 would be an MX card. And those are pathetically slow. It's worth the extra few dollars to get a 4200.

I wouldn't bother with GF3s, they're well on their way to being obsolete. The Ti4200 is a good buy; the choice pick for gamers on a budget.
My brother has a Gainward GF4 Ti 4200 running off an 800MHz (original) Athlon, with PC133 RAM. Games like BF1942 and UT2k3 are playable. Granted, he runs them at either 640x480 or 800x600, but he's not that much of an avid gamer anymore, so it suits him.
I'm curious, though, what is your current card make/model?

You could buy a 64 or 128mb Radeon 8500, even though those cards tend to have more problems than the Geforce cards... The ti4200 would be a good choice too of course, and I don't think it would be an overkill.
