Windows Ipods...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I 'm looking to get an ipod. I had heard nothing but great things about it. I've heard the mac version is absolutely stellar and I assumend this meant that the Windows version was much of the same. A friend of mine has told me this is not true though. He says people are having problems with it and that it's just not as good. So... is this true or should I get some new friends?

Best to hear what those who bought it have said

10GB iPod for Windows - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...6808612-2605617
20GB iPod for Windows - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...6808612-2605617

Word of warning: It uses Firewire, not USB

I know someone who actually owns the 20gb Windows and 20gb Mac version, they are both great. I dont think shes had any problems with them. They are fragile though, so be careful with it.

Theres also a 5gb one out now too for both windows and Mac.

yeah, i know there is a 5gb one but that one seems like it wouldn't be enough.

If I get one, what firewire reader/card would be the best to get.

wait, maybe i'm confused. If I get one, is there anything I need to buy before it will work?

Well, basically you need a Firewire/IEEE-1394 card installed on your computer in order for you to transfer files to the iPod... you can buy a Firewire PCI card at most computer stores ... Brand doesn't really matter...

Here's a link to one:
