i am sittin here. the diablo server is down again, but i would like to discuss a new topic for once. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has to be the greastest arcade game of all time. I dont have an arcade near me, so i am not too good, but i do whoop ass sumtimes. I am postin this cuz i wanna see all u capcom fans out there to send me ur team of players and tell me y u use them. also, if u have a name for ur team, realting to all their types, send that with em.

I use the 3 capcom ninjas: Ryu, Ken, and Akuma. Since they all have a diff center on beam, attack, and overall, it makes a good balanced breakfast in ur face.

Send me ur teams all u gamers out there! I wanna see who knows wat, and who knows how!

Yes, MvC2 is awesome arcade game. I don't play it often however to be really good at it. The backgrounds are really good, 3D and very detailed. The game is somewhat disappointing though, the music in MvC2 is garbage. Marvel Vs Capcom (the first one) had themes for each character (though there weren't a whole lot). Those compositions really gave characters more of a lifelike feeling.

I read somewhere that Capcom refused to keep characters size in relation with the screen the same as in MvC. They shrunk the char sprites a bit to accomodate the 3 on 3 tag team style, which I think really screwed the game up. The animation has been cleaned bit too. One last thing about the controls. I hate them. Two jabs = I MP isn't something I can work with. It helps a lot with combos but since I play MvC more than MvC2, I really hate the system.

Now for the home console versions. The Dreamcase one I have never played before, so I can't comment. The newly released PS2 version is almost indentical to the arcade version. However, I notice that the sprites are not as refined as those in the arcade. The controls are almost the same as in the arcade version accept for the L1 and L2 (default) which count as 3K and 3P. I woulda liked for it to have the standard 6 button config and then reserve L1 and L2 the character support. Also, the sound quality was a best horrible.

Overall , its a really good game (a game with 56 characters from two very popular worlds has got to be good) but it did lack a fair bit. If Capcom does continue with this (I'm betting it will) I'm hoping they fix up the few problems MvC2 has.

Ryu, nor, Ken nor Akuma are ninjas.

I had the Dreamcast version and it was 99.5% arcade perfect. We used to play the hell out of it.

Sold it when I sold my Dreamcast, but it comes out next month for Xbox so I will be happy once again.

Capcom Vs SNK 2 was supposed to come out this week, but I see it got pushed back to next month to.

"when I sold my dreamcast"

Feel shame Tecil. Feel shame.

I liked my DC, but at the time bills were more important. Now I have no bills, but I have an Xbox instead. If i didn't keep buying stuff for it, I might buy a DC again just to play a few of my favorites now and then.

hey cool for the feedback. zero_maxwing. tell me more bout this ps2 version of marvel vs. capcom. to my info, it says there is no such thing. i want it badly. plz tell me where i can buy it and how long u've had it. as for capcom vs. snk 2. its awesome. way different from mvc2, bcuz of the much more difficult move executions, but it adds more of a level for expertz to kill the shit out of it, seeing there is even "custom grooves"

The press release for the PS2 version came out around July. I personally do not own the game but I go over to my friends to play MvC2 and CvS2. Nothing much more to report on, Capcom did an okay job porting it over to the PS2, but the sound quality was pretty bad. Gameplay-wise is the same as the arcade version.

Capcom Vs. SNK 2 is also an awesome game. It's 2D fighting old-school. The graphic animation on the sprites and the backgrounds are superior to those in MvC2, but granted it was released after MvC2. I do agree, it takes a lot more skill to be good at this game than MvC, since you are not limited to one fighting style (grooves). The music assigned to each stage is also far more superior than those on MvC2.

Check out Shoryuken.com:

They have an awesome site dedicated to Capcom fighting games and keeps tracks of the tourneys happening around. They also have combo compilation videos, eye openers most of them.

WOW! THANKS A LOT DUDE! I have been searching for many awhile, but i stopped looking around March. I didn't know that they realeased a PS2 version. Thanks a lot for the info. CvS2 I have and it's great, but MvC2 adds the excitement and suspense of 3-player action going all across the screen with many different ways to defeat your opponent, whether it be computer or your friend.

Capcom fighters in general have always been pretty good. There have been a few that I didn't care for, but the good ones far out weigh the bad.

I'm actually in the process of building a Jamma Super Gun box so I can hook up a Jamma Street Fighter 2 CE board to my tv. It's been put on hold till it warms up here. A lot of wood cutting involved in building the box and its too cold here.

The Super Guns are cool because you can pretty much play and arcade Jamma compatible game on them.

Jamma Super Gun box???

Posted by: Tecil

It's a TV ready arcade box about the size of a Dreamcast. You can plug in the Jamma boards from arcade machines into it and play them on your TV.

Bascially it does away with the bulk of having a full arcade machine if you don't have the room.

Do a search on Google for Jamma Supergun and you'll find all kinds of sites about it. Quite a few of them out there even have the designs so you can build your own.

i did sumthin like that for my system, but probably a lot cheaper. i dont have the koo jamma system but i bought the newly made arcade joysticks for the ps2 ( Pelican-made accesory) and put the mvc2 and surround sound. pretty sweet. the only set back is i can only play games from the arcade that were ported to ps2

Posted by: redfalconx55

also, i have modified my team. i figured out that...well...ryu sux ass. and so i switched around and tested a few characters, especially cuz u have to unlock the characters on mvc2. i now use cable/a-assist type, iceman/y-assist type, and ken/a-assist type. plz if ne1 has a team out there, post it! i wanna try it out!

Posted by: ZeRo_MaXwInG

A team that works for me is Cable, Cyclops, Spiral. I learned to use these 3 work together and then I found a guide on Shoryuken.com on how to use them even more effectively.

http://www.shoryuken.com/features/#articles

I use Ryu in moderation since I can't air combo with him or in fact any good combos unless I keep using the hurricane kick cancel into Shinkuu Hadouken.

Posted by: redfalconx55

hmm, ive herd of spiral being used effectively, but i have never witnessed it. ill try it out. the thing is that spiral's supers are either hard to hit with (the grab supers) or just dont do enuff damage (the knifes). if u want to, i would like to hear more on spiral

Posted by: ZeRo_MaXwInG

The thing about Spiral is that it's meant to build up the super bar. The real good players not only use Spiral just to build up the super bar, but also, in conjunction with Cable's assist. ie, cable comes out and fires and spiral will be able to launch her knives to keep the opponent in the other side. I basically user her to keep the opponent busy while Cable and Cyclops are regenerating health. Although her supers are hard to make contact, I've seen some really good players make user of both partners and combo into one of Spiral's supers. I can't do that so I only use Spiral to power up the super bar for Cable and sometimes Cyclops. Her assist to me is also very useful, it's easy to combo off of.
