cdr recognizes blanks as full

hi again all..got a sony crx 1611 that worked great until i installed blindwrite. i did not like the trial very much so i uninstalled it along with the patin couffin drivers. i have aspi 4.6 on win 98. the problem is the drive works to read discs with data on them..even installs them fine the problem is it will no longer read blanks as empty. so you can see the problem this causes lol. no more burning with this drive. i reinstalled all my burning programs and my benq still works fine. any ideas how blindwrite killed the sony? i lost the reciept so i cannot return it. can this be repaired? i don't have another machine to try it on..any help appreciated. maybe an app i can download to test the burner maybe.

oh yeah i forgot to mention DMA is no longer an option to check off in the properties for the sony

Did you try to install / reinstall the drivers for the CDRW?

yes i deleted the drive from control panel/system rebooted and still the same

*ponders* You could try uninstalling the entire CD-RW from the Device Manager, boot up and reinstall it. If that doesn't work... FORMAT!!!

yeah i did the remove from device manager...i was afraid of the reformat !!!! i'm going to try it in a friends computer first. thank you all

more info than i could find.. the sony storage site ..i tried it but when i searched for the crx 1611 it said not found weird eh?
