FBI Radios

I have sort of a weird request... My friends and i do a lot of A/V work, such as setting up and running audio and video equipment. While we are doing so there are times that we cann't we need to tell each other stuff but can't for some reason or another walk up to each other and talk.. We were thinking about portable radios. The only problem with those are it is really easy to spot people talking into them etc. Since many of these times we are don't want to attract attention to are selves we were thinking about using the kind of radios that the FBI/CIA use, u know the ones in ur ears.. Does anyone know anything about these? All i know is they look cool Any one know of any links or anything?? I don't even know their name...

I've been lookin around on the net and all i can find are ear piece sets for walkie - talkies. I would of thought that there would be a whole unit thing... One of my friend Uncle owned a skating rink and they used them there... His unlce doesn't have them anymore and can't recall what they were called or where he got them... any Ideas?

P.S. I'm not sure if this belonged in hardware or not...

um, you really want people to not only be able to hear every word you say, but appear as if youre talking to thin air? those cute ear pieces are jsut that, ear pieces. if a newscaster, fbi agent, or whatever wants to communicate the other way they still have to speak in a normal volume while holding a transmitter. if youve ever watched tv shows where they use the small clip on microphones, youll recall that they are fairly delicate and prone to picking up all sorts of undesirable ambient sounds. hair brushing the mic or fabric nearby is notorious.
basically, the only difference is, people around you wont be able to hear what your partner says. but they will hear what you say if they are close enough, no different than if you used a normal radio. youll just look like an idiot talking to yourself, and probably get arrested.
might i suggest that if youre installing stuff secretly that you do it when the business is closed, like at night, so you dont have to worry about what people hear. assuming of course, that what you are doing is legal.

You can't get arrested for talking to yourself in public.

no, but if youre fiddling with the wiring and installing cameras in locker rooms or bathrooms, you can

Why couldn't you just use cellphones with earpieces? AngstMerchant and his brother both are known to tromp around the house talking into midair because they've got the earpiece in and the cellphone on belt/in pocket/in hand...

Well... all of us don't have cell phones We were thinking about using talkabouts with theseThese (the ones toward the bottem) But we're still lookin for other options..
