Big announcement from Nintendo...

was supposedly supposed to be today, but I see nothing about it anywhere. Has anyone seen anything? Im expecting it to be their Pokemon MMO for GC/GBA. A bunch of Europe GC sites said that Nintendo was buying Sega and Capcom, which got a ton of people excited, but then they came back and said is was a rumor they found on a forum(LOL). They posted it as frontpage news too.

That's the announcement. Apparently Nintendo won a legal victory over sony, and won 10% stake in the Playstation name, since the playstation was originally destined to be a nintendo console. Sony now owes nintendo 2.3 billion dollars. Nintendo's going to use the monty to finance a new game studio.

This studio consists of Sega, Nintendo, Namco, Capcom, Konami, Tecmo, Square-Enix, and even more are planned to join. The company will release games for all Nintendo systems, and of course, copyright properties will be exchanged.
EDIT: The comments under that story are soooo funny. Talk about Fanboyism

Did you really believe it? Because something like this would be all over, and sony's stock would have plunged. Its only on 2 websites, the one you linked and the one linked in the article where its originally from.
Im glad you posted it though, cuz Im gonna have some fun with that thing. A friend of mine will eat that up like Thanksgiving turkey.

Well, I was mildly skeptical (as is apparent in my post), but it had minor trappings of possibility. Figures that the first time I don't try and verify something, it turns out to be false.

It would have convinced me more if the "lawsuit" was for more than $2.3 billion as I dont see all the companies they mentioned would be worth even remotely that much, not to mention it saying that others would be announced soon. Square-Enix alone for that much probably, but not with all those others in there.
This has made its way around the net now as I see it on 3 other forums I regularly visit. Lots of people are believing it

The artists group didn't imply that they bought all those companies. It just implied they'd be working together. And if you throw enough free money at someone, they'll work with you.

I shoulda known something was up when the news was coming from a little known gamecube only website
Ah well, I never got too excited With Nintendo, it would take about 2 years for a new game to come from the stuido anyways
