Got a Compaq 7360, Win 98, 512 MG Ram, I blelieve it is a 500 Mhz. The computer had been running fine for several years. Now the computer won't boot. When I press the on button, the green monitor light turns amber, the computer does a quick search for drives but nothing happens. Nothing shows on the screen. The CD drive is operational, I've tried the quick restore disk. It won't read however. An emergency start diskette isn't recognized either.
Any thoughts?

Is there any beeps coming from the case speakers? If there is more than one, there is a problem.

well, if the screen doesnt show anything, its rather difficult to say where its dying. the video card is the first suspect. how do you know these things arent recognized if nothing shows on the screen?
