Microsoft has realeased DirectX 9.0.


Microsoft DirectX is a group of technologies designed to make Windows-based computers an ideal platform for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements such as full-color graphics, video, 3D animation, and rich audio. DirectX 9.0 includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX 9.0 APIs.

sounds GREAT but has this software been known to conflict with programs designed for the older version of direct X?

DirectX updates aren't exactly known for "breaking" backwards compatibility...

Ive been using it for about 2 days now. Havent had any problems. Many people were getting much better AA and AF performance, but so far I any of that. Of course Im bottlenecked so thats a big factor.

Anyone notice how the "Xboxed" the DirectX Logo?

Yeah, but IMO the DirectX logo looks a hell of a lot crappier.
