Microsoft changes Hotmail - Big "F You" to non-IE/Netscape users

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've been able to access my Hotmail accounts using Opera up until just recently. When I tried to log in I was presented with the following notice:

http://home.cfl.rr.com/privftp/Imag...er%20notice.jpg

When I clicked on "Continue using Hotmail", it went back to the Hotmail sign-in page. I tried again, and it looped again. Rinse, repeat.

Gee, my browser wasn't limited a week ago! Now I can't login unless I use IE. I think it's time for me to drop Hotmail altogether. Ugh.

WTF is wrong with IE? IE is great sure its kind of lame looking but it is great...

ROFL. Talk about retarded.

Posted by: Xtren

That's stupid, should be able to work with all browsers, not just IE and Netscape...

I stopped using hotmail ages ago when MS started sending me ads with audio in them. Since all these Internet companies haven't really found a way to make prophits from offering free E Mail services, they just keep removing priveledges and the quality of service isn't there since it's free.

its free. therefore, they can pretty much do as they please with it. you want a mail service that offers more than the bare bones, you have to pay for it.

Hotmail isn't that bad from that aspect, it's a pretty convenient free service, and it's pretty damn popular as well. MS could do much worse if they wanted to.

I have a real FREE e-mail server.. run by a friend..

http://mail.fuzzylinux.net/cgi-bin/.../vqregister.cgi

Choose the @KustomSolutions.com Domain Name and a user name.. you will get 20 megs of storage.. support.. Pop3 and web mail.. and spam filtering.. anyone interested go sign up.. and enjoy.. other option.. PM me and I will set it up for you..

whatthe****.com has free web email if you want another option.. it's not the best by any stretch, but it's a cool name.

user@whatthe****.com

after all.. looks are everything (and I don't mean the nice shade of purple the good people at wtf decided to use).

edit: well, I'm sure you can figure out what the '****' means..

Posted by: Xtren

I don't know... that wouldn't look very good if you were sending a formal e-mail like a business application or something...

Posted by: taco_fox

I was thinking along the lines of personal email for friends or something.

* der *

I'd much rather have a me@pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.com E-Mail address.

The guy who used to own the site had an E-Mail program but apparently the domain was sold

Well thats just you

I like my free mail

That domain is stupid.

datapimp.com gives you quite a few good options for e-mail forwarding addresses. I personally had one @****off.com for a bit...

This is why you let outlook download your email from your hotmail account for you.

Or whatever email client you use.

I've been doing that for quite some time now, however, there are instances when you need to log in to the account directly to edit filters or perform various maintenance.

You can always keep it simple and get a free acount at http://www.mail.com if you want.
