PS2 using PS1 accessories

Ok, I had all of like 5 min to play around with it before I had to leave for work. I found that:

1) the Dualshock 1 controller WILL NOT work
2) the PS1 RFA adapter WILL work
3) the PS1 memory card IS readable

Will I need to keep the PS1 memory card around to save PS1 games? (Is the PS2 card writable by PS1 games)

Will I need a strictly PS2 memory card to save PS2 games? (Is the PS1 card writable for PS2 games)

What about the PS1 game shark? It doesn't appear to work with the PS2 (Didn't really check, all recalled from a brief 10 sec look at the back of the system) so if I want to use it with my PS1 games, I'll have to use the PS1. (I never use it anyways, but ya never know).

Should the PS1 controller work with the PS2 and I messed something up or does it just not work at all?

PS1 Mem card can only load and save PS1 Games.
PS2 Mem card can only load and save PS2 Games, but can store PS1 Games, but cannot load and save them from the game. You must use the Mem Card utility in the PS2 Menu.

PS1 Dual Shock controllers will work with most PS2 games, but the ones that require the Pressure Sensitive buttons will not work with the PS1 Dual Shock Controller. The Dual Shock 2 Controller will work with all games, PS1 or PS2.

The PS1 Multitap will only work with PS1 games. The PS2 Multitap should work for all games.

A PS1 Gameshark will not work with PS2, as it doesnt have a parllel type port. But a word of warning if you get a PS2 Gameshark, they can and probably will screw up your system. There are countless posts about it on the SCEA boards from them corrupting memory cards to many other things. It also voids your warranty(as does any other non-licensed 3rd party periphial).

Yes...My PSX Duel shock works fine with my PS2, even my old non duel shock controller works with the PS2.

Actually Skyhn, I'm gonna have to back up Bobaroo on this one. I have DualShock controllers from my PS1 and they are definitely pressure-sensitive. I have gradient acceleration control on all buttons in GT A-Spec, regardless of what button I assign it to. You can lightly depress it or just mash it and the acceleration is definitely different for the two levels of pressure.

I wonder why my controller wouldn't work then??

It came up with almost an error messege looking thing that said it couldn't find a Dual Shock 2 controller in port 1 when I had the Dual Shock 1 controller in there. I'll have to try them, thanks guys.

Some games they do, some games they dont. Games that REQUIRE Pressure Sensitive wont, games that just work with Pressure sensitive will, but you wont have the 255 levels of pressure, only 2. Gran Turismo 3 doesnt require it, but is compatable with it.

I think you may be imagining this. PSone controllers are not pressure sensitive.

Well they sort of are. They have 2 levels: 0 and 255, which is basically not pressed and pressed
