Where can I download a decent sound recorder program

Anyone know of a good sound recorder that I can download? I was reccomended 'creative recorder' but I dont have a creative sound card and I'm having problems getting just the recorder.
If anyone can post a link to where I can get a fairly decent program to record stuff with, I'd be pleased.
Currently, I'm running ME but soon I'll be back to 2000.
