Intel 845E Motherboard Roundup

Digit-Life has put together a roundup of motherboards based on Intel's 845E chipset. Here's a list of the boards reviewed and a snip from the review:
- ABIT IT7-MAX2
- Albatron PX845E
- Biostar P4TDK
- DFI NB73-EA
- Shuttle AB45
- Tyan Trinity 845e
- EPoX 4BEAV
Today, when even i845PE and i845GE are not top chipsets in the Intel's line supporting DDR, the i845E boards won't attract attention of demanding users at all. But the price cuts which accompany the age and the cheaper type of memory - DDR266 - can definitely attract those who prefer saving money. Such economy is not thoughtless at all: the latest Intel processors with the 533 MHz bus (as well as the HT technology which is typical of, at least, half of the boards), integrated capabilities of the ICH4 south bridge including USB 2.0 are supported. The downsides are the inferior performance at the expense of the DDR266 (instead of DDR333) and AGP 4x in stead of 8x (in E7205). And while the former is a real disadvantage which, however, is made for by the lower price, the latter is just a marketing trick.
Read on.
