Time for another Outlook 2k question

Small problem this time. All our users were setup initially on POP3 settings. When we switched over to Exchange, we imported their personal forlders and address lists.
One user tried to add a new employee's email to his personal list (to avoid playing with the GAL). The contact, however, is defaulting to an EX address rather than a SMTP address and I can't find a way to change it.
The only two boxes we fill in for the contact are name and email address. In the email address I put in xxxx@xxxx.org and it comes out with an EX address.
Really throwing me for a loop, I don't even know what the heck EX is (assuming is like POP3, SMTP, X400, etc), but it looks simillar to X400.
